Lisna: Landscape, History and Trails
Accommodation in Lisna
Landscape and location
Lisna lies in the northeastern, mountainous part of the Žďár nad Sázavou District and within the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The protected area includes Zones I, II and III. A stream flows through the cadastral area and is known by both the names Vříšť and Fryšávka. Both names refer to the same watercourse. Young alluvial deposits with grass cover lie along its banks; Lisna also has 211 hectares of forest. The landscape can therefore be understood not only through its protected location, but also through its stream banks and woodland.
Černá skála adds a single rocky landmark to these landscape features: an isolated rock formation of lydite in the forest, about two kilometres from Lisna. A watercourse and an isolated rock are distinct geographic reference points; the distance to Černá skála is given as about two kilometres.
Neighbourhoods and history
The settlements also differ markedly in their locations. Horní Lisna lies on a slope on the elevated left bank of the Fryšávka; Dolní Lisna lies in the stream valley. Both neighbourhoods are associated with the same watercourse, but occupy different topographic settings. In Horní Lisna, the houses form a loosely laid-out village green with a pond.
The first known mention of Lisna dates to 1500; a surviving site plan from 1741 documents the historic village green of Horní Lisna. The dates refer to different things: the earlier one marks the first known mention of the village, while the later one refers to the plan of the village green. Lisna's historic centre is also part of the main compositional axis of the Fryšávka.
Lisna belongs to the folk architecture region of “dům českomoravské vrchoviny – horácký dům.” Until the end of the previous century, most buildings in Lisna were constructed using the log-building method. The regional classification and the historical information about log construction refer to different aspects of the building culture. Historically, Dolní Lisna was home to a manor hammer mill. To understand the local history geographically, it is worth distinguishing between the neighbourhoods: the site plan concerns the village green in Horní Lisna, while the hammer mill is mentioned in connection with Dolní Lisna.
Hiking and cycling
A blue-marked hiking route is designated in Lisna. A section of the “Procházka kolem Sněžného” hiking route runs from Daňkovice to Lisna; there are lovely views along this section. Cycle route 4338 leads from Lisna towards Daňkovice. The details differ by route type and scope: in addition to the blue-marked route in Lisna, a specific section of a named hiking route is described, while route 4338 is designated as a cycle route.
If you plan to use one of the marked routes, check the markings, signs and local route conditions before setting out. This will help you incorporate the specific route information into your plans without confusing the hiking and cycling routes.
