If you want to combine natural surroundings with traces of cultural history on your trip, Lidmaň offers points of interest for both. Extensive belts of forest stretch along the northern and southern sides of the village; Lidmaň and its surroundings also have many ponds, both large and small.

Landscape and Waterways

The area of Lidmaň lies in the Želivka catchment and is drained by the Cerekvický potok. The Černovický potok rises in the cadastral area of Lidmaň, flows in the opposite direction, and is a tributary of the Lužnice. The waterway information therefore describes different directions and connections: the Cerekvický potok drains the area, while the Černovický potok flows into a different river system. Together with the forest belts and ponds, these features shape the character of the landscape.

Cycling Route and Hiking Trail

Signposted cycling route No. 321 runs north to south through the administrative area of Lidmaň. It leads south from Pacov to Kámen Castle and continues via Dobrá Voda and Lidmaň to Kamenice nad Lipou. Its described route therefore links several named places and passes through the administrative area.

A different route to follow is the signposted green hiking trail along the northern boundary of the administrative area. It runs roughly west to east, from Černovice through Moraveč towards Nová Cerekev. The distinction is useful when planning: the cycling route crosses the area from north to south, while the hiking trail follows roughly its northern boundary. These are descriptions of two separate routes, not one shared route.

Buildings and Historical Traces

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary has been mentioned as a parish church since 1384. It dates from 1738 and was built on the site of an earlier church. Above the entrance are two coats of arms: that of Count Kinský, with the Schönburg coat of arms above it. The building thus brings together a long-standing religious connection and a specific architectural detail.

Another historic building is the Baldachýnová kaplička sv. Jana Nepomuckého (Canopied Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk). The brick chapel is open on three sides through arcades supported by Tuscan columns. Inside is a cast-iron statue of the saint dating from 1874; the chapel was also built in 1874. It was fully reconstructed in 1997.

The history of the area is also evident beyond these buildings. Visible remains of historic gold mining can still be found in Lidmaň. Nearby, above Hojava towards Eustach, only remnants of ramparts remain from the abandoned settlement of Višněvice. Both are traces of the region’s history, but they represent different kinds of surviving evidence.

Křížův mlýn s pilou (Kříž’s Mill and Sawmill) is also located near Lidmaň, in Lidmaňka, house number 28, in the Pelhřimov District. The complex was designated a cultural monument in the third quarter of 2017. It is an example of a small rural watermill with a sawmill on a waterway with a low flow. Its craft and industrial technical equipment retains a high degree of authenticity. The mill, church, and chapel therefore offer different perspectives on the area’s cultural attractions.
