Křídla offers several different points of interest to consider when planning a trip: the bell tower as a cultural monument, the cultural centre with its decorated facade, the annual festival and the Mlynářská stezka cycling route. The town’s historical connections also date back to the 16th century. You can make cultural events, local history or cycling different focuses of your stay.

Cultural history between the tower and the cultural centre

The bell tower in Křídla is a protected cultural monument dating from 1843. On 26 September 2024, it was moved about 18 metres away from the busy road. Its construction date and subsequent relocation mark two distinct points in the tower’s history. It thus links a date in the 19th century with a clearly dated change in 2024.

Jan Blažek decorated the facade of the cultural centre with sgraffito. The tower and the cultural centre therefore offer two different cultural points of interest in the town: a protected monument and a facade decorated with sgraffito.

Festival Křídla at the cultural centre

Festival Křídla takes place annually at the municipal cultural centre. Its first edition was held in 2000. The programme includes concerts, theatre and exhibitions, as well as food and drinks, a religious service, a clothes bazaar and film screenings. Individual events may vary from one edition to the next. If you would like to combine your trip with the festival, check the dates of the relevant edition in advance.

Cycling route and getting around

Mlynářská stezka is a signposted, non-regional cycling route designated for the Křídla area. Its section between Nové Město na Moravě, Křídla and Zvole places the town along the route. Check the local signs before setting off. For road directions, Road II/385 runs through Křídla towards Olešná and Brno. The cycling route and the road thus offer different reference points for planning your trip. Road conditions and restrictions may change; check the latest conditions before setting off if needed.

Landscape and older local connections

Křídla lies on the southern boundary of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. This setting adds a landscape dimension to its architectural and cultural history. The older local connections can also be placed in context: Building Rychta No. 1 dates back to the 16th century; it also once included a brewery. The hamlet of Lamplotův mlýn belongs to the municipality of Křídla and is mentioned as early as 1587. While Rychta’s building dates back to the 16th century, 1587 is the date of the earliest known mention of Lamplotův mlýn. Together with the bell tower dating from 1843, these landmarks span a period from older local history to a 19th-century cultural monument.
