Accommodation in Hartvíkovice
There are several specific themes to consider when choosing a stay in Hartvíkovice: the Wilsonova skála rock formation with the ruins of Kokštejn Castle, activities at the Dalešická přehrada reservoir, and notable architectural and landscape sites. The themes differ considerably: at the rock formation, views and the castle site go hand in hand, while the reservoir is all about water activities and routes. The Church of St. Giles and the Památná borovice memorial pine add architecture and a named hill to the selection.
Rock, castle, and views
The ruins of Kokštejn Castle are located on the Wilsonova skála rock formation. They lie within the cadastral area of the municipality of Hartvíkovice, in the immediate vicinity of the Wilsonka campsite. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Hartvíkovice to the rock formation; a newer road from Hartvíkovice runs through the site. From Wilsonova skála, you can see the surface of the Dalešická přehrada reservoir and the wooded slopes of the surrounding area. The wooden heart at Wilsonova skála is also a place to visit for views of the reservoir and the surrounding landscape. The ruins give the rock formation a historical connection, while the views and wooden heart draw attention to the surroundings. Wilsonova skála is also a popular spot for climbers and hitchhikers.
Water and routes at the reservoir
Swimming, fishing, surfing, and boating are possible at the Dalešická přehrada reservoir. There are also numerous routes for hiking and cycling. This gives you different ways to get active: spend time in the water, follow a route on foot or by bike, or view the landscape from the water while boating. The reservoir is considered the deepest reservoir in the Czech Republic. This distinction adds a notable feature of the body of water to its recreational opportunities.
Church and landscape sites
The Church of St. Giles offers a different focus from the rock and water themes. Its floor plan is rectangular, and the presbytery is semicircular. The church also has a western tower and two sacristies. The presbytery is the area around the altar. The contrast between the rectangular floor plan and the semicircular chancel presents two different forms; the western tower and sacristies complete the architecture. If you are interested in church architecture, you can look at these features individually.
Even within the cultural theme, the church and the castle site are different: the church is defined by its floor plan and architectural features, while Kokštejn is a ruin on a rock formation. You can therefore consider whether you would rather look at architectural forms or focus on the connection between the castle site and the landscape.
The Památná borovice memorial pine grows on Třesovský kopec. This adds a tree on a named hill to the themes of water, rock, and architecture. If you choose landscape sites by their features, this one differs from the rock formation and the viewpoints at the reservoir.
