Kyškovice lies on the right bank of the Elbe. Wine-growing in the village, cycling routes through Kyškovice and the Galeriér art studio give a stay different points of focus. There are also wide views of the river and a local history that dates back to the first written mention in 1253. When looking for accommodation, you can plan your days around the activities you would like to enjoy in and around Kyškovice: cycling, following a wine trail, or making time for art and history.

The Elbe and the Views

From the edge of Hamráček, above the Elbe riverbank, the view stretches across a long bend in the river, the Podřipsko plain and the distinctive Říp mountain. The Podřipská farma and Galeriér complex is also right by the Elbe, in a peaceful setting surrounded by nature. The river landscape and views offer a different focus from the routes that pass through the village.

Cycling Routes Through Kyškovice

The alternative cycling route Labská stezka 2A leads to Kyškovice. A circular route from Roudnice nad Labem through Kyškovice to Brzánky is connected to it. This circular route is listed as 24 kilometres long. The two route descriptions give you different points of reference for planning: one leads to Kyškovice, while the other describes a loop with named places and a stated distance. Before setting out, check the current route and trail conditions, as route information and access may change.

Wine-Growing and a Themed Trail

Wine is grown in Kyškovice. The Polabské stezky za vínem a poznáním trail passes through the village; several signs along the route provide information about attractive tourist destinations nearby. You can also visit several wineries along the trail and taste wines from both Bohemian wine-growing subregions. Check in advance whether visits and tastings are available on your travel dates. The themed trail combines route-finding with wine experiences, while wine-growing is also part of Kyškovice’s local character.

Art at the Galeriér

The Galeriér is an art studio and exhibition gallery in Kyškovice. It is housed in a former building used for drying hops. Visitors can view exhibitions there. Those who want to paint themselves can access a professionally equipped workspace for a daily fee; beginners receive help with the basics. The studio has professional easels, worktables and a complete set of painting equipment. The rooms can also be used for creative work, exhibitions, workshops, courses and openings. Ask in advance about the current terms for daily access and use of the equipment.

Traces of Local History

Kyškovice was first mentioned in a written record in 1253. The village’s name is linked to the former Kyškov fortress, which stood on the site of what is now Obora. The wine press and former communal spaces also tell the story of the village: the historic wine-press building housed a wine press dating from 1712 and was once also a place for residents to meet and socialise.

The former “U Víchů” inn, now house number 3, was built in 1742. From 1903 to 1955, an amateur theatre group performed three to four plays there each year, except during the Second World War. After the cultural centre was completed in 1957, the group was revived and remained active, with interruptions, until 1991. These dates give local history its own cultural thread alongside wine-growing and art.
