During a stay in Tvarozná Lhota, you can make nature, outdoor activities and regional culture the focus of your trip in different ways. Hiking trails open up the landscapes of the Bílé Karpaty; viewpoints, an arboretum and museums offer their own highlights. When planning, consider whether you would rather spend most of your time outdoors or set aside more time for the area's architecture, agriculture and traditions.

Hiking Trails, Nature and Cycling

The artificial lake Lučina is located in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. Blue-, yellow- and green-marked hiking trails, as well as cycle route No. 46, run around the lake. The area is suitable for hiking and cycling. The markings provide different reference points for planning; trail conditions can change, so it is worth checking the latest conditions before setting out.

The 15-kilometre Orchidejová nature trail can start at the Lučina recreational area. It passes through the Vojšické Meadows complex and the surrounding area in the Bílé Karpaty. Rare orchids and other protected plants grow along the way. The trail is therefore distinguished above all by its length and the landscape of meadows and protected flora. Check local conditions before setting out.

The Oskorušová nature trail offers a different focus: it runs through the foothills of the Bílé Karpaty from Tvarožná Lhota to Radějov and up Mount Žerotín. It is marked with a red diagonal stripe. The nature trail is associated with the Muzeum oskeruší, where protected, majestic service trees can be seen. These include the Adamcova oskoruše, estimated to be about 500 years old. The two nature trails therefore differ in their focus: Orchidejová passes through meadows and by protected plants, while Oskorušová links a named route with service trees.

For mountain bike circuits and natural singletrack trails through the landscape of the Bílé Karpaty, there is the Trail of Life. Its starting point is at the Lučina recreational area. There is also a large pump track and a small skills area. If you are weighing up hiking and cycling when planning your trip, you will find different trails and facilities described here, though they do not offer the same kind of outing.

Regional Architecture and Cultural Sites

The Muzeum oskeruší focuses on agriculture, vernacular architecture, food and gastronomy. The Rolnický dům in Tvarožná Lhota, house number 187, also offers insights into similar aspects of regional culture: this listed adobe house dates from the late 18th century. It retains its original layout, with a hallway, living room and chamber. Unfired bricks, hand-hewn timber and forged nails make the traditional building materials tangible.

The grounds of Salaš Travičná are home to a small museum of the timber-built Kopaničář structures of a salaš. An arboretum there displays 23 native woody species of the Bílé Karpaty. The same grounds also have a children's playground with play features made from natural materials, including walk-through “mouse tunnels”.

Rozhledna Travičná also combines a viewpoint with cultural and natural themes. It stands within the cadastral territory of the municipality of Tvarožná Lhota, in the Vrchy locality. On the map, it can be found under Travičná, the summit of a 380-metre hill. There are 177 steps to the viewing platform, which is 34 metres above the ground. In the atrium beneath the tower, a permanent exhibition covers the nature and culture of the Bílé Karpaty, as well as oskeruše fruit trees.

Events Throughout the Year

The annual Oskorušobraní takes place on the third weekend of September at the Salaš Travičná grounds. The festival showcases and offers tastings of oskeruše varieties. The exact date and programme may vary from year to year, so check the event dates before your trip.

Local cultural life also includes the costumed Fašank in February and the Slavnost oskeruší, which also takes place in February. Dates vary each year. These events add a seasonal highlight alongside the trails, museums and architectural features that you can explore as travel themes in their own right.
