Mokrá-Horákov combines scenic views, a karst landscape, archaeological traces and cultural monuments with seasonal swimming.

Views and landscape

The Rozhledna Mokrá-Horákov observation tower stands on the flat hill of Skalky, 362 metres above sea level, on the northern edge of Mokrá. On a clear day, the view extends as far as Pálava. The tower is open to the public year-round. If your visit coincides with a construction or maintenance period, please check access in advance.

The Údolí Říčky Nature Reserve protects a geomorphologically valuable karst area in Devonian limestone, as well as near-natural forest and forest-steppe communities. Sivický les lies between Mokrá-Horákov and Sivice, on the southern edge of the Moravian Karst. The landscape offers two distinct points of interest: the viewpoint on Skalky on the one hand, and karst geology and woodland on the other.

Karst and archaeological traces

Pekárna Cave is located within the cadastral area of the municipality of Mokrá-Horákov and is listed as a protected cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It was formerly also known as Kostelík or Díravica. A blue-marked hiking trail leads from Ochoz u Brna to the cave, a distance of about two kilometres. As route details may change, check the current trail route before setting out.

Hlásnice is the archaeological site after which the Horákov culture was named. Traces of a settlement of the Jevišovice culture have also been found there. Two distinct archaeological points of reference are therefore highlighted: the culture named after Hlásnice and evidence of a Jevišovice culture settlement.

Castles, chapels and trails

Hrad Horákov, also known as Horákovský hrad, is an abandoned castle. Its remains lie on a rocky spur above Mariánské údolí. The fortified site has three ditches, the inner one cut into the rock. This links the castle’s location to a specific feature of its fortifications.

The Chapel of svatá Barbora is a listed building and is no longer used for religious purposes. It is considered the oldest building in Mokrá and was probably built in the early 19th century. The Chapel of svatého Gotharda is another cultural monument; it was listed for protection in 1996.

Pacherův kříž is a large wooden cross on a rock in the forest above the Říčka, between the Mokrá forester’s lodge and Jelínkův mlýn. Masses are held there every year in June. A red-marked hiking trail leads to the Chapel of Mitrovských from the Mariánské údolí stop; it is about 2.2 kilometres long. For your plans, check the latest information about the trail and public transport.

Seasonal swimming and travel planning

Koupaliště Mokrák has an outdoor swimming pool during the summer season. The facility includes a paddling pool, water slides and a playground; beach volleyball and table tennis are also available. Check the current operating status before your visit. This creates a clear seasonal distinction: the observation tower is open to the public year-round, while the outdoor pool is part of the seasonal summer offering.
