Lazinov by the Křetínka Reservoir
Accommodation in Lazinov
Lazinov lies on a bay of the reservoir near Letovice, surrounded by green, dense forests. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Lazinov, the lakeside landscape, the village’s history and the routes described here offer concrete points of reference when choosing your destination. The Křetínka Reservoir is 4.7 kilometres long and covers an area of 105 hectares. These measurements describe the reservoir, while the bay establishes the village’s immediate connection to it.
The Reservoir and the Village’s History
The present-day view of the Křetínka valley is also shaped by the reservoir’s history. Construction on the Křetínka lasted from 1972 to 1978; during this time, the settlement of Stavení and the lower part of Lazinov were flooded. At the viewpoint above the former site of the Masákův Mill, a bench and a Vodník figure commemorate the old mill and the flooded part of the village. From there, you can look out over the Křetínka valley, now submerged beneath the reservoir. The viewpoint thus connects a tangible local memorial with the transformation of the landscape.
A piece of local history also stands on the village square in the bay of the reservoir: the Lazinov cross was erected in 1860, restored in 2006 and placed there in 2008. Another historic landmark is the stone bell tower. Its construction date is not certain; historical sources estimate that it was built around 1832. Inside the tower is a wooden bell frame. The bell was consecrated on 4 June 1922 and has been preserved; the bell tower was renovated in 2005.
Routes Around Lazinov
Two marked routes are described in the municipal development plan for 2021 to 2025. Route 5161 connects Lazinov with Křetín, then continues north towards Vlkov. Route 5166 runs from Lazinov to Letovice. Check the markings on site before relying on the route. Route 5161 is described as running mainly on roads, paved forest tracks and field paths through the valleys of the Křetínka and Svitava rivers; surfaces may change. The route description thus provides concrete information about the course and surfaces, but no fixed journey time.
A 2024 tourism description also lists marked cycling route 5166 from Lazinov via Meziříčko to Letovice. You can distinguish the route information by following the directions: 5161 runs via Křetín and continues towards Vlkov, while Letovice is the destination of route 5166; Meziříčko is named as an intermediate stop on cycling route 5166. This keeps the two descriptions with the same route number distinct.
