Lhota u Lysic combines a horseshoe-shaped village layout with historic crosses and the Žižkův stůl natural monument. Hiking and cycling routes run partly through the village and partly near the boundaries of its cadastral area. When planning your trip, you can therefore choose between local history, nature, and the specific locations of the routes as distinct aspects.

Local History and Village Layout

The first documented mention of Lhota u Lysic dates from 1351. The village was founded as a circular village at the end of the road from Lysice. Its wooden log houses were gradually arranged in a horseshoe shape—a form characteristic of this type of village. “Circular village” describes the settlement form; the horseshoe shape refers to the arrangement of the log houses.

The village square is designated as the “medieval and modern village centre.” A small bell tower stands on the former village square and is considered locally protected cultural heritage. Together, the settlement form and village square offer insight into the historic structure of Lhota u Lysic.

Crosses and Pilgrimage Festival

The village’s religious heritage includes several crosses and an annual festival day. The pilgrimage festival in honour of the Assumption of Mary is celebrated on 15 August. If you would like to include the festival day in your stay, this date is the relevant reference point for your planning.

A marble cross was erected beside the chapel in 1938; it was restored in 1996 and 2011. The wayside cross at the crossroads in Lhota u Lysic bears an inscription with the year 1851. The cross at U Jonášových was erected in 1874 and most recently restored in 2011. The dates have different meanings: 1851 is the year of the inscription, 1874 marks the erection of the cross at U Jonášových, and 2011 marks both its most recent restoration and a restoration of the marble cross.

Woodland Landscape and Natural Monument

Lhota u Lysic lies on the left bank of the Lysický potok stream and at the eastern foot of Na Stráži mountain. The village is in Lysicko Nature Park and is surrounded by forests. This describes the village’s landscape setting, while the Žižkův stůl natural monument offers a distinct natural feature with a precise location.

Žižkův stůl lies southwest of Lhota u Lysic within its cadastral area. The natural monument covers 23 hectares of natural deciduous forest with abundant herbaceous undergrowth. It is also a geomorphologically significant site and an example of periglacial landforms. The natural monument therefore presents forest cover and landform as two distinct features.

Hiking and Cycling Routes

Two hiking route alignments should be distinguished. A red-marked hiking route runs near the southwestern cadastral boundary of Lhota u Lysic. A blue-marked long-distance hiking route lies along the western edge of the cadastral area; Lhota u Lysic is connected to it by road III/3763 or a forest track. Check the markings, route and access locally before your trip, as access points and markings may change.

The locations of the cycling routes can also be specified precisely. Cycling route 5145 runs through Lhota u Lysic on the Petrov–Rozseč–Hluboké u Kunštátu–Lhota u Lysic–Lysice route. Cycling route 5144 runs along the western edge of the cadastral area, while route 5143 follows its southern boundary. Route 5145, which passes through the village, is therefore distinct from the two cycling routes along the cadastral boundaries. Check the current signage before setting off.
