Drásov combines a protected church with a distinctive landscape and a long history of settlement. Local festivals and events add to the picture, with some programmes tied to specific dates. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay in Drásov, the landscape, church architecture and event calendar may all factor into your choice of travel dates.

Landscape and Nature Around Drásov

Drásov lies in the central part of the Boskovice Furrow, which is bordered by the peripheral areas of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The cadastral area of Drásov also lies within this furrow. Its bedrock consists of Permian deposits, including arkosic sandstones, Baliny conglomerates and clay shales. The landscape context therefore extends beyond individual natural sites: the area’s geological character is part of its overall description.

One specific natural site is Drásovská studánka, at the foot of a gentle slope on the edge of the Lubě floodplain. The area covers two hectares and lies at an altitude of 268 to 280 metres. It includes a spring, a small stream and park-like stands of trees, predominantly native species. The details about its area and elevation help place this site within the local landscape without conflating it with the broader geological area.

A park was created north of Drásov in the 1990s by landscaping the site known as Močidla. The park was a venue for various celebrations, entertainments and open-air theatre, particularly during the First Republic. This historical use gives the site its own cultural significance: alongside its natural features, its former role as a meeting place is part of Drásov’s history.

Church and a Long History of Settlement

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a state-protected cultural monument. The single-nave building has a square western tower dating from the mid-13th century. Its architectural features also include a Late Romanesque core from the same period and a Gothic chancel. Those interested in architectural history will find several clearly identifiable features in one building: its ground plan, tower and distinct architectural influences.

The history of settlement here also reaches far back. The cadastral area of Drásov contains clear traces from throughout prehistory, beginning in the Old Stone Age. Extensive settlements with cremation burial grounds from the Late and Final Bronze Age, as well as from the Roman period, lay north and northeast of the present-day settlement. The archaeological history is therefore not limited to a single era but spans several widely separated periods.

Festivals and Events

The Drásovské hody traditionally include the raising of the Maypole. An invitation for 2026 welcomed the general public, in traditional costume or without one. The highlight of the Sunday programme was a procession from the school at 14:00. If you would like to plan your stay around the festival, check the schedule and dates for the relevant year before travelling.

A pilgrimage is also associated with the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, taking place on a Sunday around 14 September. Here, too, it is advisable to check the programme for the relevant year in advance. This lets you plan the timing of a visit without assuming that a recurring tradition follows the same schedule every year.

Drásovská stopa took place for the tenth time in 2026, on 23 May. The general event format includes short routes, with competitions, for parents with children, as well as longer routes for fit individuals and groups. Routes may vary from one edition to another, so the details of the 2026 edition are not a guarantee of what to expect at future events.

A culinary event is also documented for 2026: the eighth Česnekové slavnosti at Farm Podal took place on 18 July. Visitors could traditionally sample varieties of garlic grown at the farm and buy them, along with other farm products, directly there. This account describes what was on offer at that event; it does not indicate that tastings or purchases are currently available. The different themes—nature, architecture, history and festival culture—offer a range of ways to plan a stay in Drásov.
