Štědronín-Plazy offers several specific points of interest for a stay: the Sedláček Trail, the annual fishing camp “Tábor s vodníkem,” and the landscape and local history. When planning, it is worth distinguishing between the two stated lengths of the trail and considering the fishing camp’s time-specific program separately. This will help you see which aspects of your trip could be shaped by exercise, an event program, or the landscape and history.

Sedláček Trail: Route, Length and Walking Time

The Sedláček Trail follows the Otava from Písek to Zvíkov; this route description gives its length as 25 kilometers. Since 2006, the trail has been undergoing renovation as cycle route No. 1225, following a modified 35-kilometer route. The route passes through Štědronín and is intended for shared use by pedestrians and cyclists. The 25- and 35-kilometer figures therefore refer to different route descriptions. Plan according to which route is meant, rather than treating the figures as a single length.

The one-way walking time on the Sedláček Trail is 4 hours and 30 minutes. The trail also passes through Štědronín to the road bridge over the Otava. Length and walking time answer different questions: the distance in kilometers indicates the scale of the route, while the walking time gives the time required for the one-way walk.

Distinguishing Between the Trail and a River Trip

For trips on the Otava, Otava boat rental offers Vydra, Roka and Samba canoes, as well as Colorado rafts. This is a different way to plan than for the Sedláček Trail: there, the route, distance and walking time matter; with the boat rental, the named watercraft are the focus. If you are weighing up a walk or bike ride and a river trip during your stay, you can consider these different types of activity separately.

Fishing Camp and Program

The annual fishing camp “Tábor s vodníkem” takes place at the Počta – Štědronín recreation center on the shore of the Orlík Reservoir. The week-long program for the 2025 edition included team competitions on identifying fish and fishing techniques. Night fishing was also part of the program; according to the weekly schedule, it took place every other day. For a specific trip, check the dates and program for the relevant edition.

Landscape and Local History

Within the protected area of the state-owned Zvíkov Castle, wooded valleys and the water at the confluence of the Vltava and Otava offer distant views of Zvíkov Castle. Štědronín-Plazy is also part of this protected area. If you want to explore the landscape and culture as well as plan a specific route, the distant view of Zvíkov is a point of interest in its own right.

The Štědronín-Plazy monument was ceremonially unveiled on May 25, 1947. Its unveiling gives the monument a clear historical reference point within local history.

Information About the Recreation Center

A report published in 2026 about an organized stay at the Štědronín recreation center describes the use of sports facilities and a swimming pool for bathing. If sports facilities or swimming are important to your plans, check with the recreation center for the current situation before arrival.
