Mišovice can be placed in the context of travel planning through the sights in Pohoří and the regional cycling route. Pohoří is part of the municipality; the Muzeum Mirovicka and the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul are located there. In Mišovice itself, there is a protected wayside shrine. This distinction helps you locate the cultural destinations when planning a stay in the municipality.

The Muzeum Mirovicka in Pohoří

The Muzeum Mirovicka has ten exhibition sections in total: eight are in the main building, and two are in a former parish barn near the museum building. One section is devoted to geology, mining, mineralogy and living nature. It provides basic information about the geological structure of the region and its immediate surroundings, and describes mining activities in various parts of Mirovicko.

This section also covers the Celts’ gold panning at Skalica, considered the region’s oldest mining activity. In this way, natural history and the history of human use are presented side by side, with examples from both the region and its immediate surroundings.

Church and villagescape in Pohoří

The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul dates from the late 13th century and is first mentioned in 1369. The church complex stands on a slight rise in the eastern part of Pohoří and forms a significant urban-design feature within the built-up area. The complex includes a disused cemetery enclosed by a cemetery wall with an entrance on the west side. Together, the church, cemetery and wall form a unified ensemble.

A statue of St. John of Nepomuk stands in front of the western cemetery wall, south of the cemetery entrance. The location, enclosure and statue provide several distinct points of reference for the ensemble: the medieval church, the former cemetery and the position of the saint’s statue by the wall.

Other historical points of interest

In Mišovice, a pillar-shaped wayside shrine stands in front of the gable facade of house no. 34. It is visible from afar, forms a significant urban-design feature of the municipality and is protected as a historic monument. The Chapel of St. Lawrence is located about 300 metres east of Svučice, on the road to Mišovice. The two small religious monuments are therefore in different, specifically described locations.

One archaeological point of interest is Hrad Hill, a few kilometres southeast of Pohoří. The ruins of a late Hallstatt-period hillfort from the time of Celtic settlement can be found there; Celtic settlement in Bohemia is associated with the Boii tribe. In the forest on Malý Kosatín Hill, about one kilometre south of the hillfort, there are several late Hallstatt-period burial mounds. The inhabitants of the hillfort were probably buried in them. This probable connection should be distinguished from the confirmed description of the burial mounds themselves.

Cycling route and surroundings

Cycling route CT311 runs from Mirovice through Mišovice and continues via Minice to Pohoří. As route details may be updated, check the current route before setting off. A regional tourism guide from 2018 also highlights walking and cycling, woodland walks and exploring the countryside as suitable activities in the area.

This gives you different options to focus on when planning your trip: the museum brings together topics from natural history and mining history, while the church and cemetery form a unified historical ensemble. For a cycling trip, CT311 provides a described route through several places; the general guide to the area also mentions walks and hikes. Deciding which of these perspectives you want to shape your stay can help when choosing a hotel in Mišovice as a starting point for further planning.
