Hosty – Village Architecture, Nature and Cycling Route
Accommodation in Hosty
Hosty can be viewed through several distinct themes: a chapel in the middle of the village square, rural architectural styles, traces of graphite mining and protected nature. A cycling route also passes through the village. If you are looking for hotels for a trip to Hosty, these features offer concrete points of reference when choosing your destination.
Chapel and Village Architecture
The Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands in the middle of Hosty’s village square. Its large hexagonal nave is clearly distinct from the smaller rectangular presbytery, which is closed on three sides. The presbytery forms the chancel of the chapel; its shape and scale contrast with the large hexagonal nave.
Other buildings also show a variety of rural architectural styles. House No. 18 is a farmstead with a preserved gateway, as well as residential and farm buildings. House No. 17 is an original granary. The property at No. 69 has a gable in the South Bohemian folk Baroque style. Together, these examples range from the layout of a farmstead and its buildings to a regionally distinctive gable.
Historic Traces and Landscape
Remains of graphite mines are preserved on Kraví hora, in the cadastral area of Hosty. These traces of industrial history add a different theme to the architectural examples: they relate to former mines, rather than the design of residential or farm buildings.
Nový Dvůr is a historic farmstead at the confluence of the Vltava and Lužnice rivers. Here, the architecture and landscape are connected: the farmstead stands where the two rivers meet. A burial mound field lies on a wooded rise between the Vltava and the Sobní potok. There are currently 78 burial mounds there. Unlike the individual buildings, this field points to archaeological traces in the landscape.
The Lužnice–Nežárka Natura 2000 site, a Site of Community Importance, lies within the Hosty area. The Lužnice Natural Monument is also among the specially protected natural areas in the Hosty area. These are two different protection designations: one is a Site of Community Importance, and the other is a Natural Monument.
Cycling Route Through Hosty
Cycling route 1137 passes through Hosty towards Koloděje nad Lužnicí, where it connects to the main CC Lužnice route. This gives a specific sequence for route planning: the route goes through Hosty towards Koloděje nad Lužnicí, where it joins CC Lužnice. If you plan to use this connection for a ride, check the current signage and route before setting off.
Hosty as a Destination for Your Hotel Search
The chapel and farmsteads offer architectural points of interest, the protected areas connect to nature, and the cycling route offers a specific link to cycling. Depending on what matters most to you, you can consider Hosty as a destination from these different perspectives.
