Hajky: Stádlec Bridge and local history
Accommodation in Hajky
You can plan your trip to Hajky around two main themes: local history in the village and routes to destinations nearby. The Chapel of St. Donát is a local landmark in Hajky, and several hiking trails start at Stádlec Bridge. When looking for a hotel for your stay, you can decide whether to focus on the village itself, a hike to a castle, or events. For this reason, the village, destination, and date are separate factors to consider.
Stádlec Bridge and hiking trails
Stádlec Bridge is located near Hajky. It is accessible year-round and is also open to cyclists. Conditions may change during maintenance work or if new restrictions are introduced, so check current access before your visit.
Several hiking trails start at the bridge. A red-marked trail leads upstream to Příběnice Castle or as far as Tábor. Downstream, red or blue trails lead to Dobronice Castle; from there, a red trail continues to Bechyně. To choose a route, first decide which direction you want to go and what your destination is: Příběnice and Tábor are the upstream options, while Dobronice and then Bechyně are on the downstream route. Red markings are used in both directions; downstream, there is also a blue-marked trail. This comparison can help you consider your destination and trail color together.
Stádlecký most near Hajky is considered the last Empire-style bridge in the Czech Republic and is a technical monument. Alongside the trail network, the bridge is therefore a clearly defined cultural and historical destination.
History and events
The Chapel of St. Donát in Hajky has been restored. It is a local landmark in the village and adds a distinct local perspective to the cultural and historical context of the area.
The TJ Sokol Stádlec football pitch is below Hajky, between Stádlec and Slavňovice. Irregular events are held there, approximately once a year in summer: the Pašafest music event, Children's Day, and other social gatherings. Since the schedule is irregular, it is best to check before your trip whether an event has been announced for your dates. This is especially important if a particular festival is the reason for choosing your hotel.
Masopust processions in Hajky and Slavňovice took place in 2022 and 2023. On Saturday, February 19, 2022, the procession, accompanied by a band, began at 9 a.m.; 30 people in masks took part. On February 11, 2023, Masopust also started at 9 a.m., with 29 people in masks in total, including local residents and people from the surrounding area. Both dates fell in February and started at the same time; the number of people in masks differed by one.
