Dolní Počernice combines a landscape of ponds and wetlands with traces of local history. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, these themes can guide your plans: would you like nature watching to shape your visit, or are you more interested in architectural and everyday history?

Nature by the water and in the wetlands

Velký Počernický rybník is the largest pond within the territory of the capital city of Prague. In the eastern part of Prague, it forms an important natural biocentre. Aquatic and wetland vegetation characterise this natural area, and waterbirds find important nesting sites there.

The V Pískovna Nature Reserve is distinguished by its high biodiversity, particularly its rarer aquatic and wetland plants. The water and the birds swimming there are best observed from its western or southwestern shore.

The nature highlights offer different points of interest: V Pískovna is especially notable for its rarer wetland plants, while Velký Počernický rybník is known for its pond vegetation and waterbird nesting sites. You can therefore consider nature watching and plant diversity as two distinct focuses.

The chateau park is part of the Počernický rybník Natural Monument; Velký Počernický rybník and the chateau park together form a natural monument with a total area of about 41 ha.

Educational trail and paths

The Dolní Počernice educational trail leads from the V Pískovna Nature Reserve through the town centre and chateau park, over the dam of Velký Počernický rybník, and then along the pond to the Vinice neighbourhood. The route thus passes through different built-up and natural areas rather than being limited to the pond shore.

U Čeňku Park has 7.7 km of paths, including 5.8 km of unpaved paths. Unpaved sections therefore make up the larger part of the designated network—a useful detail if you would also like to take path surfaces into account when planning.

Local history: everyday life and architecture

The Regional Museum displays historic furniture and objects that illustrate household life and the lives of people in the first half of the 20th century. Its focus on everyday life and homes complements the local architectural heritage with a different perspective on the area's history.

The church of Dolní Počernice is the oldest building in the locality. The remains of the oldest stone church building have survived almost completely to this day and occupy two-thirds of the floor plan of the present-day building.

Getting there by train and bus

Dolní Počernice can be reached by train from Masarykovo nádraží or Prague Main Railway Station to Dolní Počernice stop. Prague city bus routes 109, 110 and 163 also serve the Dolní Počernice stop.
