Zámrsk offers several distinct points of interest for a stay: archive and castle history, church music, park architecture and birdwatching. The key to planning is deciding which theme will shape your visit. The castle is not normally open to the public. Concerts are held regularly in its courtyard; check dates and access arrangements in advance if you are planning to attend a concert. Seasonal restrictions also apply in sensitive wetlands in Rzy Bird Park to protect against disturbance.

Archive, Castle and Church Music

Since 1959, the Státní oblastní archiv Zámrsk (Zámrsk State Regional Archive) has been based in Zámrsk Castle. Researchers from across the Czech Republic and abroad travel there to consult the archive collections. Alongside its architectural history, this gives the town a distinctive academic connection: for people researching historical sources, the archive is a specific reason to make a dedicated visit.

The castle is not normally open to the public. However, concerts are held regularly in its square, arcaded courtyard. If a concert is the reason for your trip, check the date and the relevant access arrangements in advance. Remains of the original fortress, which was converted into a castle in the early 17th century, have been preserved in the east wing. These surviving traces date back further than the castle form that defines the building today.

The Church of St. Martin is a Rococo church dating from 1782. Its organ dates from 1910 and is in relatively good condition; the church is also a venue for classical music concerts. The construction date and the organ point to different historical periods. The musical events also differ: concerts are held regularly in the castle courtyard, while the church hosts classical music performances.

Park and Technical Monuments

The former palm house in Zámecký Park was built in 1843. It offers a specific architectural reference point for the history of the park. The park is fenced and open year-round; nevertheless, check access arrangements before your visit, as individual gates or rules may change.

Zámrsk’s historical and technical monuments include the former distillery and starch factory, originally a mill, together with the millrace on the Loučná. The municipality’s railway station building is also part of this group. These sites highlight different aspects of technical history: earlier milling and the history of the railway. They complement the castle and church with examples of production and transport buildings.

Nature Watching and Getting Around

Rzy Bird Park lies mostly within the municipalities of Dobříkov and Zámrsk. The water’s surface can be observed from several points, making this a particular draw for nature enthusiasts. Seasonal restrictions apply in sensitive wetlands to protect against disturbance. Follow the rules in force when you visit and check in advance which restrictions apply during the relevant season.

The main Prague–Česká Třebová–Olomouc railway line passes through the municipality’s cadastral area. If you are planning to travel by train, check the timetable for your travel date. The differences between archive research, concerts, park architecture, technical monuments and nature watching can help you choose the focus of your stay: plan around the theme that brings you to Zámrsk.
