Vojtěchov lies in the foothills of the Žďárské vrchy at an altitude of 528 metres. If you are considering staying in the area, Cycling Route 4122, the Vojtěchovská rozhledna, the railway station and local history offer different points of reference for planning your trip.

Landscape and Cycling Route

The part of Vojtěchov south of road I/34 lies within the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. Forests predominate there, with agricultural land and meadows covering a smaller area. The protected-area designation and the distribution of land describe this southern part of the village.

Cycling Route 4122 passes through Vojtěchov. If you are planning a cycling trip, you can therefore consider the village as a specific point along this route. The cycling route offers a travel reference in its own right, alongside Vojtěchov’s landscape and historical features.

Vojtěchovská rozhledna

The Vojtěchovská rozhledna is located near Vojtěchov and opened in July 2010. In April, May and June, as well as in September and October, it is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In July and August, the same opening hours apply every day. The schedule therefore differs between the summer months and the other months mentioned. Check the opening hours before you arrive if visiting the tower is a fixed part of your plans.

On a clear day, Kunětická hora, Sněžka and Kralický Sněžník can be seen from the observation tower. Visibility is crucial to the view: whether all three landmarks are visible depends on how clear it is on the day of your visit.

Rail Connections and Planning Your Journey

Vojtěchov railway station is on railway line 238 between Pardubice and Havlíčkův Brod and is part of the IREDO integrated transport system. For a train journey, the line number and endpoints are useful reference points. Check the specific departures in the timetable for your travel date so you can plan your journey according to the times in effect that day.

Cycling and rail travel offer different points of reference: Cycling Route 4122 passes through Vojtěchov, while the rail information concerns the local station and line 238. When choosing how to travel, you can use the route or the train timetable as a guide. For rail travel, the timetable for your specific travel date is what matters.

History and Historical Traces

Vojtěchov was founded in the second half of the 13th century during the reign of Přemysl Otakar II and his son Václav II. The first written record dates from 1392. The date of the village’s foundation and its first written record are two different historical milestones: 1392 marks the first record, not the beginning of the village’s foundation.

Another feature of local history is the Protestant cemetery. It was established at the beginning of the 19th century and is still in use. It is therefore part of both Vojtěchov’s historical development and its present-day landscape.

Traces of charcoal-burning sites associated with historical ironworking are still preserved in the Pláňavy area. These traces add a connection to earlier ironworking and charcoal production to the historical milestones in the written record. Those interested in local history will therefore find several points of interest in Vojtěchov: its medieval origins, the cemetery that is still in use, and the preserved traces in the Pláňavy area.
