Trnávka combines local Protestant history with things to do in the surrounding area. The church and cemetery offer historical points of interest, while cycling and hiking trails add outdoor activities. At Trnávka Pond, the Rybářský spolek Trnávka offers fishing permits. The National Stud in Kladruby nad Labem is also nearby. Bus and train connections lead to surrounding towns.

Evangelical Church and Cemetery

The Evangelical church in Trnávka opened on 22 May 1884 and still serves its religious purpose today. It replaced a stone toleration church dating from 1797. The two dates refer to different buildings: 1797 marks the predecessor church, while 1884 is the opening date of the current church.

The Evangelical cemetery is behind the church. It was established in 1789 and expanded in 1854. Both dates precede the opening of the current church, so the history of the cemetery can be distinguished chronologically from that of the present-day church.

Early History and the Town’s Name

The oldest surviving written record of Trnávka dates from 1333. One historical interpretation places the beginning of settlement in the area around Trnávka in the 10th century. These are different historical reference points: the settlement concerns the area around the town, while 1333 marks the oldest surviving written mention. The town was originally called Tyrnov; the current name, Trnávka, became established from the second half of the 16th century.

Trails, Fishing and the National Stud

Cycling Route No. 24 passes through the area around Trnávka, and there is also a green-marked hiking trail. For planning purposes, the two trails have different identifiers: the cycling route is numbered, while the hiking trail is identified by its green markings. If you are cycling, use the route number as your reference; if you are hiking, look for the green markings.

At Trnávka Pond, the Rybářský spolek Trnávka offers fishing permits and provides visitor rules for fishing. If you would like to fish here, check both before your visit and take the association’s guidance into account when planning.

The listed National Stud in Kladruby nad Labem is near Trnávka and is known for its Old Kladruber horses. The stud has a museum of carriages and harnesses; horse rides and carriage rides are also offered. This makes it possible to choose between a museum visit and a ride on horseback or by carriage as different focuses for your visit.

Connections and Travel Planning

Trnávka has bus and train connections to surrounding towns. If you are planning to travel by bus or train, check the timetable for your travel dates and take the connections into account when choosing a hotel. The geographical layout may also play a role in your planning: the church and cemetery are part of Trnávka’s local history, while the cycling route, hiking trail and National Stud are in the surrounding area. Consider whether you would like to focus your stay on the town itself or also include activities in the surrounding countryside.
