Stojice between local history and landscape

Stojice lies in the northwestern part of the Železné hory. In the village, you will find various points of reference: the late Gothic Kostel Všech svatých, a preserved ensemble of rural village buildings, the sandstone statue of St. John of Nepomuk and the marked cycling route 4128. These features connect the village’s history with its structure and cycling traffic. They give a concrete impression of what makes Stojice a distinctive destination.

Church and historic village character

Kostel Všech svatých is a late Gothic church. Its grounds include a cemetery, a mortuary and an enclosing wall. A notable ribbed vault is preserved in the presbytery. The building’s form, vault and associated structures are distinct features of this church ensemble.

The dates associated with the church represent different periods in its history: in 1350, it was transferred to the newly established Diocese of Litomyšl. The associated parish ceased to exist in the 17th century; in 1867, F. Schmoranz remodeled the church in the Neo-Gothic style. Another testament to the village’s history is the sandstone statue of St. John of Nepomuk, dating from 1672. The church, parish and statue thus point to different historical contexts.

The rural village ensemble is also part of the preserved village character. Stojice has preserved historic village buildings with their traditional layout and architectural character. This draws attention not only to a single religious building, but also to the structure of the village.

Cycling route, water and regional location

Stojický rybník lies in the built-up area of Stojice, along the course of the Struha stream. The pond and stream provide a local landscape feature within the settlement. Marked cycling route 4128 also runs through the built-up area. If cycling is part of your reason for traveling, its route is a useful point of reference for finding your way around the village.

Road I/17 connects Stojice with Heřmanův Městec, Chrudim and Čáslav. These road connections add links to the named places to the local perspective. The Železné hory Protected Landscape Area begins approximately six kilometers from Stojice. Together with Stojice’s location in the northwestern part of the Železné hory, this provides a regional context for planning your trip.
