Spojil: Cycling Routes, Apolenka and Village History
Accommodation in Spojil
Highlights of a stay in Spojil include the Okruh Spojil, the nearby forest, Apolenka farm and the village’s history. Cycling and walks, watching the animals at Statek Apolenka, or visiting the memorial sites on the village square offer a variety of experiences.
Cycling and walking routes around Spojil
The Okruh Spojil is 6.5 kilometres long and runs mostly along unpaved paths and asphalt roads. It starts near Apolenka farm and follows forest paths to the edge of Spojil. The route can be continued along K Hájovně Street through the village centre, where the Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands.
A short circular route around Spojil passes nearby Vesecký kopec, a natural monument known for its protected plants and interesting terrain. The surrounding forest is also ideal for walking and mushroom picking. A cycling or hiking trip leads from Černá za Bory through Spojil and Sezemice to Pardubice or Kunětická hora. Check the conditions on the regional route before setting out.
Apolenka and other public facilities
Statek Apolenka in Spojil is open to the public every day. Visitors can see horses, cows and sheep, as well as llamas, ostriches and coatis; the animals kept there may change. The farm’s playground is open to all visitors. As access arrangements may change, check the latest information before your visit.
Apolenka’s dairy makes and sells milk, cheese, kefir, yoghurt and whey drinks from high-quality cow’s milk. The Sportovní areál in Spojil is a multifunctional sports and cultural facility for local residents and the general public. The village’s offerings therefore include not only routes but also a public venue for sport and culture.
Village square and local history
Two large stones on the village square commemorate the former Spojil and Strejček ponds. There are also two memorial lime trees: one dates from 1946 and the younger one from 2008. The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is also located on the square. These sites provide tangible points of reference for a walk through Spojil’s history.
Spojil was founded towards the end of the 18th century on the site of the former Spojil and Strejček ponds. The memorial stones recall this earlier landscape. The history of local events is also linked to a specific date: the children’s cycle race “Spojilská míle pro Mílu” was held for the fifth time in 2020; it had also taken place in each of the four preceding years.
Getting there and planning your trip
Pardubice bus route 9 has served Spojil since 1992. Transport information updated in 2025 continued to list the route as operating. Check the current timetable before travelling. This lets you coordinate your journey with your planned activities without relying on an unconfirmed timetable.
The Okruh can be assessed by its length and surface; for the regional cycling or hiking trip, the sequence of places is the main consideration.
