Rostejn can be explored through its distinctive architectural and natural features. The Rostejn-Zbohov bell tower has a precisely dated history; there are also chapels, a factory chimney and white stork information tied to specific dates. This distinction is helpful when planning your trip: buildings and their history offer a different perspective from a single wildlife sighting or a project that is still planned. You can therefore consider the town’s history and its natural features separately when deciding whether Rostejn is your travel destination.

Buildings and Local History

The Rostejn-Zbohov bell tower was built at the end of November 1884. The bell in the tower was purchased from Bedřich Hampl of Jihlava for 28 gulden. The tower’s history therefore includes two distinct details: the precise date of its construction and the specific price paid for the bell.

A chapel on the road from Běstvina to Rostejn was restored in 2006. At the crossroads towards Rostejn there is a chapel mentioned in the regional cultural heritage records. The years refer to different events: 1884 marks the construction of the bell tower, while 2006 marks the chapel’s restoration. This keeps the construction history and later preservation distinct in time.

Chimney and White Storks

At Rostejn 4 stands a 24-metre-high brick chimney. Its square base transitions into a round shaft, topped with a concrete ring. This sequence makes the structure easy to distinguish by its shape: a square base below, a round shaft above it and a concrete top. The chimney has long been out of service and unused. An AOPK decision dated 4 December 2024 describes a platform with a white stork’s nest at its top.

A pair of white storks was observed in Rostejn on 4 April 2025. This sighting refers to a specific day and should be considered separately from the information about the nest. For your trip planning, 4 April 2025 is a precise date of observation, not a general guarantee for other travel dates.

Landscape and Route Planning

Rostejn is associated with the CHKO Železné hory Protected Landscape Area. An older local guide mentions three marked hiking trails starting from the municipality of Běstvina. Check the route details locally before including these trails in your hiking plans.

A project proposes a pavement in Rostejn along road II/340 adapted for people with limited mobility and orientation, as well as a crossing to the public transport stop on road III/344 28. As this is a plan, check its implementation status before your trip rather than assuming the pavement or crossing is currently available to use. The three marked hiking trails and the pavement project address different planning questions: the older local guide refers to trails starting from Běstvina, while the planned measure concerns Rostejn.
