Dolni Orlice can be explored through several specific interests: the Hraběcí educational trail, two playgrounds and regional cycling route 4077. When choosing a hotel, you can consider whether you would rather explore on foot, plan a cycling trip rated as difficult, or take play opportunities for children into account. Rail travel and parking are also relevant to your journey.

The Hraběcí Educational Trail and a Break Along the Way

The Hraběcí educational trail is associated with a fairy tale that is loosely connected to the history of the village. This combines a storytelling approach with a connection to Dolni Orlice. If, on an outing, you appreciate a story about the place as well as the trail itself, this educational trail is a suitable focus for your plans.

There are two distinctive shelters with benches along the educational trail. Visitors can rest there and have a snack. You can include both rest stops in your outing plans if you would like to take a break along the way.

Playgrounds: Equipment and Access

The playground in Dolni Orlice has equipment for children aged 3 to 14. This includes slides and swings, a fire station tower with play features, a small square trampoline, a training hexagon, a climbing fire engine and spring riders. The stated age range provides a specific point of reference when planning with children.

The playground is fenced in. Mature trees line its southeastern side and provide shade for all visitors during the summer months. Access to this playground is fully accessible for strollers, bicycle trailers and wheelchairs.

Access to the forest playground should be considered separately: it is via an unpaved country lane and is also fully accessible for strollers, bicycle trailers and wheelchairs. If you are using one of these mobility aids, you can take the condition of the path into account when planning your access to the forest playground.

Cycling Route 4077 and Route Planning

Regional cycling route 4077 passes through Dolni Orlice; a route junction is located here. The route runs from Lichkov via Horní Boříkovice and Červená Voda to Králíky, Dolní Hedeč and Pohořelec. This places Dolni Orlice within the context of a longer cycling route.

The route runs through the southern part of the Orlické Mountains and partly follows class III roads and paved country lanes. It is rated as difficult. Check current route conditions before setting off, as trail conditions can change seasonally or after weather events. Both the difficulty rating and the conditions at your planned travel time are therefore relevant to your decision.

Rail, Parking and the Chapel

A timetable valid from June 15, 2025 lists Dolni Orlice as a stop on railway line 024. Check current departure times before travelling. If you are driving, you can park at the multi-purpose sports ground in front of the adjacent fire station, provided that the fire engines’ exit remains clear. Another parking option is the car park at the nearby Čertovka restaurant.

Pilgrimage Masses have been celebrated in St. Anne’s Chapel by prior arrangement. If you would like to combine a visit with a service, check for current announcements in advance.
