Accommodation in Malhotice
When planning a trip to Malhotice, you can choose from several different themes: the history of the castle and fortress, sacred buildings, and Arasféra with its parrot tours. This lets you decide whether to focus on historic buildings and art or on a guided visit with animals.
A fortress and castle through the ages
The archaeological site of the Malhotice fortress is classified as UAN I and designated an important archaeological site. The fortress is first mentioned in 1391 and last mentioned in 1492; these dates refer to mentions, not to the year it was built. The fortress probably predated the nearby castle, which was created by converting the fortress. At the beginning of the 19th century, Baron Vilém Bojakovský had the castle remodelled in the Empire style. The former castle underwent extensive reconstruction in 2008, including work on the façade, windows, and interiors. These offer different points of reference for your chosen theme: the fortress takes you back to the Middle Ages, while the Empire-style remodelling represents a later stylistic period, and the reconstruction involved specific work on the former castle.
Church and sacred art
The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary in Malhotice is an Art Nouveau building dating from the beginning of the 20th century; its registration number is ÚSKP 50629/9-67. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, by contrast, is a Baroque work dating from 1816. Together, these subjects broaden the focus beyond the fortress and castle: the church represents sacred architecture, while the statue is a distinctive Baroque work of art. For travellers wishing to compare different periods, these are two clearly dated points of reference.
Chapel and cycle route south of the village
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary before Malhotice lies south of the village. Cycle route 5252 passes through the avenue by the chapel, making it a useful landmark for cyclists. An old memorial stone is set into the ground in front of the chapel. Behind the chapel, beside the road, there is a covered rest area for visitors. You can easily look inside the chapel through the grille at the entrance.
Arasféra: parrots and guided tours
Arasféra in Malhotice offers a different focus from the history of the buildings. Various parrot species from many countries are on display there. On a guided tour, you can feed tame birds under the supervision of a breeder or go directly into the aviary. Arasféra thus adds a guided activity with animals to the cultural and historical attractions. Please book your visit in advance by phone or email. When you get in touch, also check the practical details of the tour before planning your trip.
