Lipova Lazne between spa history and nature
Accommodation in Lipova Lazne
Lipova Lazne combines spa history with nature and leisure activities. Local highlights can help you choose a hotel at your destination: they range from historic sites and a nature trail to caves, an animal park, and trails.
Spa history and architecture
At Pramen Císaře Josefa II. in Horní Lipová, a memorial pillar commemorates Emperor Joseph II’s visit on September 1, 1779. Water was brought to the emperor there at the time. The site thus connects a specific event with a monument that is still visible today.
Above the spring, near Dívčí skály, there is a restored chapel. From there, you can enjoy a view of the ridge of the Jeseníky Mountains. This brings together local history and views of the mountain landscape.
The Muzeum Johanna Schrotha presents the development of spa treatments and the history of Lipová-lázně. Those interested in local history can also explore an outdoor highlight on the Naučná stezka Johanna Schrotha: the nature trail is 8.5 kilometers long and runs through ten stops, where the history of the surrounding area is the main focus.
The church in Horní Lipová is also a distinctive feature of the local landscape. The single-nave building is in a simple Neoclassical style; its features include a massive tower and a rectangular, flat-ended presbytery. The church was solemnly consecrated on November 2, 1788, and remains a prominent landmark of Horní Lipová to this day.
Trails and seasonal activities
Lipovské stezky comprises two blue trails and one black trail. Two more trails can be reached via a signposted transfer and a climb up the nearby Toč mountain. The trails therefore differ both in their designated difficulty and in how the additional trails can be reached.
For comparing routes, Lipovské stezky are less demanding than Rychlebské stezky. They are therefore suitable for families with children and for beginners. If you are looking for a suitable trail, this comparison offers a clear guide without treating the two destinations as equivalent.
The summer activities at Lázeňský vrch include a practice golf area and scooter rentals with suggestions for excursions. Activities are seasonal; check in advance whether they are operating during your travel dates.
Caves and an animal park
Jeskyně Na Pomezí offers a visitor route more than half a kilometer long. The named cave chambers include Ledový dóm, Bílý dóm, U Smuteční vrby, Římské lázně, Klenotnice, and Královský komín; the caves are also described as having stalactite formations, cascades, and small lakes. Jeskyně Na Pomezí will be closed to visitors from May 18, 2026, through the end of 2026. If you are planning a visit later, please check current visiting options.
The Faunapark in Horní Lipová is a small zoo. Its animals include pumas, an Amur tiger, kangaroos, meerkats, several parrot species, alpacas, llamas, an ostrich, and turtles, as well as other animals. This makes the animal park a different kind of excursion from the historical sites and nature trails.
One way to get to the Faunapark is by car via road II/369; free parking is available there. If traveling by train, get off at Lipová-lázně station. This information can help you plan your journey to the animal park without assuming a specific travel time or distance.
