Hlušovice offers several specific points of interest: the cycling route from Olomouc to Šternberk, ponds, local history and municipal leisure facilities. The village is the first stop on the cycling route; in the village centre, it leads to a pond. Other attractions include the Neo-Gothic Church of St Peter and Paul, wayside shrines with different historical associations, and a municipal sports facility. When choosing a hotel for your stay, these themes can help you decide whether Hlušovice suits your travel interests.

Cycling Route, Ponds and Maják

The route from Olomouc to Šternberk is called Hvězdná. Hlušovice is its first stop; in the village centre, it leads to a pond. A second pond has its own distinctive features: willows grow there, and a water-sprite figure stands on an island. You can distinguish between the two bodies of water by their features: one by its location in the village centre and its connection to the route, the other by its willows and island motif. The Maják Hlušovice leisure area is also located on the Hvězdná cycling route. The restaurant is housed in a replica of a naval ship; the area also includes a stylish Captain Club and a lighthouse. Details about the leisure area may change, so check the information before visiting.

Church and Local History

The Church of St Peter and Paul is a branch church belonging to the parish of Bohuňovice and is in use. The Neo-Gothic church was completed in 1926. Neo-Gothic refers to the revival of Gothic design forms; the year of completion gives the building a specific historical date. On the road to Dolany stands a Baroque wayside shrine with a triangular ground plan that is more than 200 years old. Another wayside shrine was erected in 1795 in memory of a severe hailstorm. A wayside shrine is a small religious monument; these two structures have different features and historical associations. The two dates associated with the shrines are worth noting: one was erected in 1795, while the Baroque shrine is more than 200 years old.

Sports and Events

The municipal sports facility in the centre of Hlušovice includes a tennis court and can be rented through an online booking form. The Letní kino Hlušovice was held as an open-air cinema at the municipal sports field in 2024 and 2026; refreshments were available at both editions. At the Drakiáda on 7 October 2023, visitors could fly kites together, enjoy inflatable attractions for children, follow a kite trail, take part in workshops and watch a puppet theatre performance. The Gulášfest on the same day featured goulash tastings, a winner selection and a raffle. The events therefore had different focuses: the Drakiáda combined kite flying with activities for visitors, while the Gulášfest centred on food and competition. If you want events to be part of your trip, check the dates in advance.
