Lhotka: Ondřejník, trails and village culture
Accommodation in Lhotka
Lhotka offers several distinct points of interest to help you plan your trip: the heights of the Ondřejník ridge, marked trails, historic and cultural sites, and a sports centre. You can consider these separately and decide whether the main focus of your stay should be the landscape, local history, a cycling trip or sports facilities.
High points on Ondřejník
The 890 m summit of Ondřejník offers expansive views because it is almost completely treeless. Lhotka’s municipal area extends along the Ondřejník ridge as far as the 864 m summit of Suché úbočí. This means there are two named high points on the ridge, with different elevations.
The highest and southernmost point of Lhotka’s cadastral area lies at 900 m and is directly accessible from Ondřejnické sedlo. The 757 m saddle is also where the cadastral areas of Lhotka, Metylovice and Pstruží meet. These elevations refer to different points: 864 m for Suché úbočí, 890 m for the summit of Ondřejník and 900 m for the highest and southernmost cadastral point. This gives you a concrete reference when interpreting the elevations for your trip planning.
Trails and destinations around Lhotka
Antoníček is a named landmark on routes between Ondřejník and Lhotka. There, on the way from Ondřejník to Lhotka, a turn-off to the village is marked with an inscribed cross. Two benches offer a place to rest. The Pramen Olešné spring can also be reached from Antoníček by following the green-marked trail towards Lhotka. The turn-off leads to the village, while the green-marked trail leads to the spring: these are two different destinations.
For a cycling trip, consider the 21 km “Okruh kolem Ondřejníku” (Ondřejník Circuit). One section, marked in green, leads to Lhotka. The 21 km refers to the cycling trip, not to the walking time to the destinations mentioned. As route conditions and signs can change, check the route and trail markings before setting off.
Chapel and cultural events
The “Kaple Navštívení Panny Marie” chapel in Lhotka was built in 1844 with donations. Another significant chapter in its history dates to 1925, when monthly services began to be held whenever possible, with the archbishop’s permission.
The “Amfiteátr U školy” amphitheatre hosts cultural events, especially the “Sochovy národopisné slavnosti” folk festival. The chapel and amphitheatre thus represent different aspects of Lhotka: the history of a religious building on the one hand, and a cultural events venue on the other. If you would like to get to know the village beyond its heights and trails, these offer two distinct points of interest.
Sports centre and waterways
The “Sportoviště Kuřín” sports centre has a multi-purpose pitch with artificial turf and a reconstructed grass football pitch. In 2020, a workout area, several outdoor exercise machines, an obstacle course, spring riders and a sandbox were also added. Recreational facilities can change, so if your visit depends on their current condition, check in advance.
Another geographical feature is the stream at Pramen Olešné: rising there, it flows through the eastern part of Lhotka and through Metylovice and Palkovice, before feeding a recreational reservoir of the same name. Alongside the summits, trails and cultural sites, the spring and stream are distinct landscape features to explore in Lhotka.
