Bohumín offers a range of highlights for a stay: protected river landscapes, trails, water attractions and historic buildings. If you are looking for a hotel in Bohumín, you can choose your destination based on whether you would like to focus on nature, outdoor activities, swimming or cultural history. The places and attractions differ in character and how they can be visited; guided tours and Aquacentrum facilities are also subject to their own conditions.

Natural Areas and Trails

The Hraniční meandry Odry is a protected natural monument covering 131.6 hectares. It encompasses a 7.5-kilometre stretch of the Oder with five large river bends. The figures describe different scales: the area in hectares refers to the natural monument, while the distance in kilometres refers to the river stretch. The meanders can be explored on foot, by bicycle or by boat.

The Červená stezka offers a different focus. You can cycle or walk along it, and it includes twelve Neo-Gothic red-brick buildings in Bohumín. This highlights two distinct interests: the Hraniční meandry Odry are about the river landscape and different ways of exploring it, while the Červená stezka also focuses on architecture. When planning your trip, consider whether you would rather focus on the river bends, an active outing or the buildings.

Water Attractions and Sauna World

Aquacentrum Bohumín offers a 25-metre swimming pool, a relaxation pool, massage jets, water spouts, a waterfall, an outdoor pool, a 48-metre water slide, a children’s paddling pool and other attractions. The two specific lengths refer to different features: the swimming pool and the slide. This makes it easier to distinguish the facilities by pool type and attractions rather than confuse the measurements.

Aquacentrum’s sauna world includes Finnish saunas, a steam sauna, experience showers and a Kneipp path. The swimming pools and water attractions offer a different focus from the specifically listed sauna facilities. As individual facilities may change, check the latest information from Aquacentrum before your visit.

Culture and History in Starý Bohumín

The Městské muzeum is located in the basement of the renovated Art Nouveau house Pod Zeleným dubem in Starý Bohumín. It houses the permanent exhibition “Bohumín - pohledy do minulosti města.” The museum also displays the Starý Bohumín treasure, consisting of 54 coins from 1660 to 1860. Other exhibits include a mammoth molar, a vertebra and a boundary stone from the First Republic period, found in the Oder meanders. Together, the exhibits link the coins’ long time span with objects from different historical contexts.

The buildings in Starý Bohumín also offer different points of interest. The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary dates from the 15th century and became a pilgrimage site again after decades. Pustyňa Chapel is a small Baroque building from the 18th century. These differences in date and architecture offer a concrete starting point if you would like to explore religious and architectural history during your stay.

Guided Tours and Architectural History

The MO-S5 Na Trati infantry bunker was declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic in 2004. Regular guided tours take place on weekends and public holidays. Visits outside regular opening hours can be arranged by telephone. Keep these visiting arrangements in mind if you plan to include the bunker in your itinerary.

The Henckel von Donnersmarck family crypt is a two-storey building: the crypt is in the basement, and a sacred space is on the upper floor. In 1752, the building was remodelled into its present form. The year therefore refers to the remodelling that gave it its current appearance. Along with the buildings in Starý Bohumín and the infantry bunker, the crypt offers another way to explore Bohumín’s architectural and cultural history.
