Bartošovice brings together historic buildings, a nature trail and a range of nature-related attractions. The castle, the Church of St Peter and Paul, Bartošovický luh Nature Reserve and several exhibitions each offer a different focus. If you are looking for a hotel in Bartošovice, you can choose where to stay based on the interests shaping your trip: architectural history, landscape or nature interpretation.

Castle and Church: Architectural History in Bartošovice

Bartošovice Castle is a four-winged building with a small enclosed courtyard. Preserved 19th-century furnishings and a marble fireplace in the library add specific interior details to its architectural form. The Moravské Kravařsko exhibition in the castle is divided into four thematic sections. Architectural features and historic furnishings are thus brought together with an exhibition organised by theme.

The Church of St Peter and Paul in Bartošovice was rebuilt in 1583. Its 35 m-high tower was completed in 1692. The dates refer to two distinct building works: the rebuilding of the church and the later completion of the tower. If you are interested in the history of the buildings, these dates help distinguish their timelines without combining them into a single construction event.

Landscape in Bartošovický luh Nature Reserve

Bartošovický luh Nature Reserve includes the naturally meandering course of the Oder and the ecosystem of the Upper Bartošovický Pond, with its shoreline vegetation. It also includes adjacent small bodies of water, wetlands and reed beds. Continuous floodplain meadows with water-filled ditches are part of the area, as is a wooded terrace with numerous springs and forest wetlands. An orchard meadow with traditional regional fruit varieties is also part of the reserve.

The natural area is also distinguished by a concentration of specially protected plant and animal species. The landscape features described range from the meandering river and pond areas to floodplains, wet woodland and an orchard meadow. The reserve therefore encompasses a variety of landscape features, not just a single body of water.

Nature Trail and Getting Around

The Zámecká naučná stezka nature trail is about 5 km long and runs through the cadastral area of the municipality of Bartošovice. It is marked along the route with standardised green-and-white markings. Its first stop is by the municipal office on Bartošovice village square. The length, markings and first stop each provide a different point of reference: the approximate length indicates the extent of the trail, the markings identify it on the ground, and the first stop names a specific landmark.

Exhibitions on Poodří and Wildlife

The Poodří House of Nature has an indoor exhibition featuring information panels about Poodří and interactive elements. Visitors are free to move around within the exhibition. The exhibition featuring live animals at the Bartošovice rescue station includes more than 30 animal species, particularly birds. Visitors must be accompanied by a guide to see this exhibition. The two nature-related exhibitions therefore differ both in content and in how they are visited.

When planning your stay, you can organise the attractions according to your interests: the castle and church focus on architectural history, the nature trail offers a marked route through the municipality, and the exhibitions cover topics relating to Poodří and wildlife. A guide is explicitly required for the exhibition featuring live animals; visitors can explore the indoor exhibition at the House of Nature freely.
