Jeseník nad Odrou lies in the southwestern part of the Poodří Protected Landscape Area. There are several ways to plan your trip: explore the town’s architectural history, visit the spring water and protected river valley, or follow one of the many walking and cycling routes. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, these themes can help guide your choice.

Churches and Architectural History

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands on the site of a wooden church that burned down in 1710. The nave was added in 1752 at the expense of František Rheinold z Andlernu. Two other stone monuments also tell the story of the town: the stone cross near the church dates from 1822, is of local origin, and attests to the continuation of the Baroque sculptural tradition into the 19th century.

A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the village square. It is considered one of the earliest depictions of its kind in North Moravia and was erected before the saint’s canonization. Its regional context and early date make the statue a distinctive historical landmark in the town.

Chapel and Castle

The Chapel of Saint Anne stands in the town centre next to house No. 8. Its elongated form transitions into a slightly narrower, recessed semicircular end. It also has a volute gable and a small roof turret with a lantern. Visitors interested in historic architecture will find a description that clearly distinguishes the building’s basic form, gable and roof structure.

The castle and manor farm in Jeseník nad Odrou were built by Rudolf svobodný pán z Wittenu. Visitors can currently enjoy the castle’s historic atmosphere and dine in the restaurant or in the outdoor area of the castle park. Facilities may change, so check before your visit whether the restaurant and outdoor dining are available.

Poodří, River Landscapes and Spring Water

The Meandry Staré Odry Natural Monument protects a remnant of the Oder’s original, strongly meandering riverbed. The protected landscape includes numerous seasonal pools and riparian vegetation. One important visitor rule to bear in mind when planning your trip is that motor vehicles are prohibited within the natural monument.

Another natural feature is Jesenická kyselka, a cold, carbonated spring water with a low mineral content. A public tap is accessible year-round. Jesenická kyselka can be reached by car without access restrictions; the site is within 250 m of the access area. This makes it easy to take both the spring water’s properties and the access information into account when planning your visit.

Trails, Bike Trips and Experiences

The Stezka krajinou povodní trail runs through the Oder floodplain between Jeseník, Bernartice and Suchdol nad Odrou. Its terrain is suitable for walkers and for cyclists with trekking or mountain bikes. The Cyklostezka Okolo Poodří takes a different approach: eight information panels along the route cover the natural, landscape and cultural features of Poodří. This easy cycling trip is also suitable for families with children. Jeseník nad Odrou is a railway access point for this route; check the current timetable when planning your journey.

Františkova cesta offers a spiritual focus. This easy circular trail starts in Jeseník nad Odrou-Blahutovice, is about 4.5 km long and has 10 stations. The meditative educational trail draws on themes from the Canticle of the Sun by Saint Francis of Assisi and passes through Blahutovice and the surrounding area. Its approximate length and number of stations give you a practical guide when planning your walk.

The one-hour Jesenický pramen experience also combines an excursion with making your own herbal syrup. If this activity is important to your stay, check its availability before visiting. You can then choose between a route with information about nature and culture, a spiritual educational trail, and a guided experience that includes making syrup.
