Discover Kruh
Accommodation in Kruh
Kruh combines a long, stretched settlement pattern with cinema history, a recurring Advent evening, traditional architectural heritage and Koupaliště Kruh.
Townscape and landscape
Kruh is a foothill municipality with scattered buildings and a long, stretched settlement pattern. This follows the KruĹľskĂ˝ potok and a class III road between Roztoky u Jilemnice, Kruh and MĹ™ĂÄŤná. The position of these reference points describes the shape of the settlement without reducing it to a single compact town centre: the buildings are spread out and extend through the municipality.
Kruh lies at an altitude of 410 to 480 metres in a relatively enclosed area. Sightlines and terrain horizons are close by. Together, they create a landscape shaped both by the elongated settlement and by the limited surrounding terrain. The altitude adds another dimension to the description of the settlement: Kruh is defined not only by its extent, but also by its location in the foothills.
Cinema and Advent evening
The history of Kino Kruh dates back to 1924, when it was part of a cinema network in the First Czechoslovak Republic. After being digitised in December 2016, the cinema gained a larger screen and a 7.1 sound system; the auditorium is also heated. Its historical roots and later technical facilities are two distinct aspects of Kruh’s cinema history. If you’re planning to visit the cinema, check the current programme in advance.
A seasonal cultural event is the traditional Adventnà podvečer. It has been held regularly in Kruh since 2007, usually at the end of November. The programme includes, among other things, exhibitions of nativity scenes and old baking moulds. The evening thus combines the Advent occasion with specific exhibits. Unlike the town’s permanent features, it takes place on a recurring date; the exact date may vary. Check the event date before planning your trip around it.
Architectural heritage and archaeological site
Tuláčkův statek is an impressive timber-built farmstead with a Baroque gable. It was formerly the residence of a factor. Another example is Statek čp. 1, considered an example of late Baroque folk architecture in the Podkrkonošà region. Its characteristic features include a log-built structure and decorated gables. At Tuláčkův statek, the farmstead, its gable and its former function are the main features; at Statek čp. 1, the architectural style and construction details are the defining characteristics.
Another historic site is the Tvrziště u čp. 67 archaeological site. It lies on a triangular spur above the Kružský potok and comprises two masonry buildings. The shape of its location and the number of buildings are among its notable features. This distinguishes the site both from the farmsteads and from the architectural examples in the municipality.
Koupaliště Kruh
Koupaliště Kruh is located in the centre of Kruh u Jilemnice. It has an artificial pool filled with drinking water. The grounds also include a snack bar, toilets, changing rooms, a children’s playground and a volleyball court. This covers the water facility as well as practical amenities and opportunities for play and sport. If you’re planning to use a particular facility, check the latest information before your visit, as individual offerings may change.
Which of these features matter for your stay depends on how you want to spend your time in Kruh.
