Wickwitz (Vojkovice) lies in the deep valley of the Ohře, which flows through the village. The river landscape, protected nature and archaeological history offer different points of interest for a stay. For some places, especially Vojkovická skála, a specific access requirement must also be taken into account when planning. Vodácký kemp Vojkovice is a campsite for canoeists in Vojkovice nad Ohří. Check its current availability before your trip, as operations may change.

Valley Landscape and Protected Nature

The natural areas are distinguished by their protected habitats. Dubohabřina ve Vojkovicích protects well-preserved Hercynian oak-hornbeam forests and dry grasslands on steep slopes above the Ohře. The Špičák u Vojkovic protected area safeguards beech and scree forests, as well as dry grasslands on steep slopes and the characteristic flora and fauna of deciduous forests. The Špičák area also includes land within the cadastral area of Vojkovice nad Ohří. Vojkovice and Jakubov are also part of the Doupovské hory Special Protection Area.

At Vojkovická skála, geology and protected species come together. The rock formation is a morphologically prominent granulite outcrop and is of geotourism value as a geological site. Particularly protected species found there include the barred warbler (Sylvia nisoria) and the sand lizard (Lacerta agilis). Due to the military area, quarry and private property, special permission is required to enter Vojkovická skála. Take this requirement into account when planning a visit.

Recreation and Nature Watching

Pískovna offers the opportunity to fish and is also a quiet place to relax. There, you can observe plant and animal life in its natural surroundings. This gives your visit several possible focuses: a specific activity, a peaceful stay or observing nature.

Vojkovická lípa is a protected small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata Mill.) and is about 250 years old. The Studánka pod lípou spring is another named natural landmark in the village: it has supplied refreshing water for decades and was renovated in 2009.

Archaeology and Getting Oriented

The hillfort at Vojkovice is an important archaeological site and is classified as an archaeological site, fortification and hilltop settlement. This classification connects the archaeological findspot with a specific type of fortified settlement. The site lies south of the town, between the railway line and the Ohře, above the confluence of the Bystřice and the Ohře, at an elevation of 370 m above sea level.

The Cheb–Chomutov railway line also passes through Vojkovice. For cyclists, the village is located on the Radošov–Stráž–Lužný section of National Cycle Route 6: Wickwitz (Vojkovice) lies at kilometre 4.6. The named section and kilometre provide a specific reference point for navigating this route.
