Accommodation in Trebendorf
Trebendorf (Třebeň) offers travelers a striking glimpse of historic architectural styles: St. Lawrence, a Marian column, and houses bearing traces of the folk architecture of the Cheb type. Nový Drahov, a district of the municipality of Třebeň, is known for its half-timbered farmsteads. Soos adds opportunities to enjoy nature and learn, from a nature trail to a museum and an animal rescue station.
Church and architectural traces in Třebeň
The parish church of St. Lawrence is late Gothic and dates from the late 15th century. It was built in 1495 and extended in the following years; between 1758 and 1783, it underwent a sensitive Baroque redesign. The building thus brings together two clearly distinct periods: its late Gothic origins and its later Baroque character.
Another architectural landmark is the Marian column behind the railway line. It is three metres high and was completely rebuilt in 1840. Houses at current numbers 1, 3, 15 and 19 also bear traces of the folk architecture of the Cheb type. In Třebeň, a single monument thus stands alongside features of regional architecture found on several houses.
A farmstead in the northwestern part of the municipality dates from the first half of the 19th century. Four buildings—a house, barn, outbuilding and shed—are arranged around a rectangular courtyard with a gate. The complex can be understood as a combination of different functions: a farmstead includes not only living spaces but also buildings for work and storage.

Nature and geology in Soos
A signposted interpretive nature trail runs through part of the Soos Nature Reserve. Check the latest trail information before your trip. Soos is also home to a diatomite shield, formed from deposits of diatom shells at the bottom of a former salt lake. Its formation makes the area’s geological history tangible through a specific feature.
At the entrance to the nature reserve is a museum with models of prehistoric reptiles and exhibitions on the paleontological and geological history of the Earth and the Cheb region. The nature trail and the museum offer different ways to explore these subjects: explanations along a path outdoors, and models and exhibitions indoors.
Part of the Soos animal rescue station is open to the public. Visitors can learn about the station’s work and the animal species it cares for. Public access covers part of the facility, not the entire site. Plan your visit according to the station’s current information.
