Suchá is an originally mining settlement in wooded hills and today serves primarily as a place for recreation. The village combines this historical character with walks as well as cycling and winter routes. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between these options: the walk to the church and the path to the pond lead to destinations in the village, cycling route 2005 and cycling route 2011 have different landmarks, and a separate winter route starts and ends in Suchá. This helps you identify whether your interest lies in the village’s history, a walk on foot, or a tour on two wheels or in winter.

Mining History and the Church

The mining past is part of Suchá’s original character. One specific building is the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (“Nejsvětějšího srdce Ježíšovo”), which dates from the 1920s. It can be included in a walk to the edge of the village: the route takes you to the church, among other places. This lets you combine history and exercise during a visit to the village. Today, Suchá serves primarily as a place for recreation; its historical background adds to this picture and gives the walk a cultural connection. The church is a specific point of interest, while the settlement’s mining character describes its earlier history.

Walks to the Church and Pond

Another destination for a walk is the small, romantic pond. From “Pašerák,” a path leads left between the houses to the pond. Unlike the church, which you reach on a walk to the edge of the village, the pond has its own directions, with “Pašerák” as the starting point. This helps you avoid confusing the two destinations when planning: for the church, follow the walk to the edge of the village; for the pond, take the path between the houses. If you would like to explore Suchá on foot, you can choose the directions according to your intended destination.

Cycling Connections and Their Landmarks

When planning a cycling trip, distinguish between cycling route 2005 and cycling route 2011. After the section along the former railway line to Jáchymov, cycling route 2005 climbs along Dvořákova Street to the Suchá settlement. Regional cycling route 2005 runs mostly on paved gravel and forest paths. This description of the surfaces gives you an idea of the route, although actual conditions can change; if the condition of the route matters for your ride, check it in advance. Cycling route 2011 has a different landmark: in the Suchá settlement, you can join it by the football pitch. Route 2005 therefore offers a described continuation along Dvořákova Street and information about the path types, while route 2011 has the stated joining point. This distinction helps you match each cycling route to your planned starting point or joining point.

A Separate Winter Route

The winter route “Ze Suché na úpatí Meluzíny a Macechy” is another option to consider seasonally. It starts and ends in Suchá u Jáchymova, at the Suchá–Léno junction. This named junction gives you a specific location to orient yourself for both the start and finish. As conditions can vary by season, check them before setting out if you include this route in your plans. Unlike the cycling connections, this is explicitly a winter route; it adds a seasonal tour to your options.
