Discover Zbraslavice
Accommodation in Zbraslavice
Zbraslavice offers several different reasons to visit: St. Lawrence Church, its brewing tradition, the RybnĂk Pavlovka bathing pond and the Aeroklub. The themes range from architecture and local history to recreation by the water and air sports. If you are looking for a hotel in Zbraslavice, you can start by considering which of these aspects of the town is most important for your trip.
St. Lawrence Church: fittings and architecture
St. Lawrence Church has old Baroque-carved pews and a pewter baptismal font dating from 1602. Its tower, which is 30 metres high, has four bells. They originally date from 1594 and were recast after the fire of 1809. The dates mark different stages: 1594 is the origin of the bells, while 1809 is the year they were recast. On the northwest side, two small round-arched windows and another pointed-arch window opening have been preserved. The church’s appearance thus includes both details of its interior fittings and a variety of window shapes.
Local history: the fire of 1496
Another historical landmark is the fire of 13 April 1496. It destroyed almost the entire small town of Zbraslavice, while the fortress survived. This event combines a precisely dated turning point with a clearly stated exception: the town was largely destroyed, but the fortress remained standing.
Brewing tradition and method
The origins of brewing in Zbraslavice date back to the 16th century; Zámecký pivovar Zbraslavice continues this tradition. The brewery brews beer in Bohemia using the traditional decoction method. These are two distinct aspects: the brewing tradition reflects the town’s history, while the decoction method describes how the beer is brewed. If you are interested in local brewing culture, you can explore its history and production as separate topics.
Relaxation at the RybnĂk Pavlovka bathing pond
RybnĂk Pavlovka is a bathing pond for recreation on the edge of the Zbraslavice municipal area. There are grassy areas for relaxing, as well as slides. Pavlovka therefore offers a different focus from the church, local history and brewing tradition: here, the emphasis is on relaxing by the water and enjoying the available grassy areas and slides. Check seasonal conditions before your visit if you plan to include the bathing pond in your itinerary.
Air sports at Aeroklub Zbraslavice
Aeroklub Zbraslavice offers opportunities for gliding, powered flying and model aircraft flying. These three activities offer different ways to explore aviation: gliding and powered flying sit alongside model aircraft flying as a distinct focus. In addition, the “Pilotem na vĂkend” (“Pilot for a Weekend”) programme gives members of the public the chance to become Aeroklub members for a weekend. If this format could fit into your travel plans, check current dates and booking conditions in advance.
The Muzeum Ostrov lidových krojů
The Muzeum Ostrov lidových krojů is housed in a former farm building. It was used mainly as a cowshed and stable, while the central part of the building was inhabited. The building’s former uses were therefore not all the same: alongside its primary use as a stable, the middle section served as a dwelling. This adds a distinct aspect to the town’s history, separate from the church’s architectural features and interior fittings.
