Vonoklasy combines a nature trail with distinctive landscape and nature features, as well as traces of local history. If you are looking for a hotel in Vonoklasy, these different themes can help you decide how you would like to spend your stay.

Circular Route and Landmarks

Okolím Vonoklas is a circular nature trail in the area around Vonoklasy. It runs along the northern edge of the village and focuses on the Český kras Protected Landscape Area, nature and the landscape. The route therefore highlights both its surroundings and the landscape features found there.

The nature trail passes the wooden wayside shrine of P. Marie, which dates from 1893. Two viewpoints lie near different sections of the route: Velká skála is close to its northwestern section and serves as a viewpoint. At the southwestern tip lies Karasova vyhlídka, a paragliding launch site. The two places therefore have different points of focus: one is defined by its view, the other by its use as a launch site.

Another landmark is the Na návsi signpost in Vonoklasy, where five tourist routes meet. This gives the place a distinct connection to route navigation, while the Okolím Vonoklas nature trail is defined by its circular form and themes.

Landscape, Geology and Protected Nature

Geological and ecological features also contribute to the character of Vonoklasy. In the former Ve skále quarry, an outcrop reveals folds between the Silurian and Devonian periods. The fossil fauna is relatively rich, with trilobites and bivalves particularly notable. The former quarry thus offers a different perspective on the landscape from the viewpoints or the nature-focused trail.

Ecosystems of deciduous forests, forest-steppe and steppe formations, as well as scree slopes, have been preserved in Vonoklasy. They are home to numerous protected plant and animal species. Another natural feature is U louže, a small body of water where communities of aquatic plants and animals have been preserved. These different habitats and the body of water represent distinct natural environments rather than just a single landscape.

Another striking natural feature is an English oak protected as a natural monument. Its age is estimated at about 600 years. This is an estimate: it indicates an approximate age, not an exact one.

Building History and Chapels

The first written mention of Vonoklasy dates from 1227. Two chapels with distinct features are among the dated buildings: the wooden wayside shrine of P. Marie, dating from 1893, stands on the nature trail. The Neo-Gothic Chapel of sv. Václava stands in the village square, dates from 1887 and has a bell tower. Their locations, architectural styles and dates provide specific points of comparison that help illustrate local history.

The former Baroque farmstead No. 12 is the only cultural monument in Vonoklasy. Its buildings include a residential building with a log-cabin core, a scenic gate and a detached wooden granary on a stone base. The surviving wooden building of the former farmstead has served as a granary since the early 19th century. The residential building, gate and granary show different parts of the farmstead, while the granary’s function is part of its history.

When choosing a hotel in Vonoklasy, you can use these themes to plan your stay: the circular route combines landscape and nature with a visit to a chapel along the way, while the village square, farmstead and other natural features offer further perspectives on the area.
