If you’re looking for a hotel in Újezd, the character of your stay can guide your choice. The village combines historical points of interest with extensive woodland and events held each year. These include the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Doubravka castle site west of the village, and a memorial. You can tailor your trip to specific interests: local history, architectural heritage, remembrance, events or landscape.

Local History and the Chapel

Újezd was first mentioned in a written record in 1399 under the name “Oujezd čtyř konšelů.” The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was opened and consecrated on July 9, 1899. It was built by Jiří Štefan, who came from farmstead No. 6. The two years mark different historical reference points: 1399 is the first written mention of Újezd, while 1899 marks the opening and consecration of the chapel. The reference to farmstead No. 6 adds the builder’s origins to the story of the building.

Those interested in local history can distinguish between the village’s early mention and the history of a specific building. The chapel provides a clearly dated focal point in the local history.

The Doubravka Castle Site

The fortified site of Doubravka lies near the Doubravka forester’s lodge, about 1.5 kilometers west of Újezd. The well-preserved, circular castle site is approximately 14 meters in diameter and surrounded by a ditch and rampart. No visible wall remains are present. These features should be considered together: the circular shape, approximate scale, and defenses formed by the ditch and rampart define the character of the site, rather than any standing masonry structure.

Unlike the chapel in Újezd, Doubravka lies outside the village and offers a different historical focus: here, the circular fortified site takes center stage. Its approximate distance and westerly direction help locate it.

Forest, Remembrance and Events

More than half of Újezd’s area is forested. This is a distinctive feature of the landscape. A blue-marked tourist route follows a forest path onward to the partisan bunker. If you plan to take this route, check locally before setting out.

The former partisan shelter has been filled in; a memorial now stands in its place. This place of remembrance is a separate point of interest alongside the architectural and local histories.

Every year, the summer dance venue hosts mainly rock concerts as well as cultural and sporting events for children. If a particular concert or event is the reason for your trip, check the dates for your planned visit.

Sports and Getting There

SK Doubravan Újezd has a sports complex with a grass pitch and player facilities, as well as the “U Meruny” clubhouse. These facilities belonging to the club add to the village’s sporting profile; the annual events at the summer dance venue are a separate focus.

Buses provide direct connections from Újezd to Prague and surrounding villages. Rail connections are available via the nearby Cerhovice railway station. This offers different travel options to consider: bus services to Prague and nearby villages, and rail connections via Cerhovice. Check the timetable for your travel day before choosing your connection.
