Úholičky: Trails, Vltava Views and Culture
Accommodation in Úholičky
Úholičky offers a variety of options for a stay: walking and cycling routes, views from Řivnáč, and historical and golf-related destinations. When planning your visit, the key question is whether to focus on a section of a long-distance route, the local nature trail, or individual cultural and golf attractions.
Walking Trails and Routes Through Úholičky
The Stezka sv. Ludmily, which passes through Úholičky, connects important places associated with the beginnings of Czech statehood. It is divided into eleven stages. The fourth stage runs from Budeč via Svrkyně, Noutonice, Velké Přílepy and Úholičky to Levý Hradec in Roztoky.
The circular route and nature trail “Rozhlédni se, člověče” starts in the village square and follows the left bank of the Vltava. Its section through Úholičky passes through a cherry orchard and a birch grove, then follows a dirt track to the Stříbrník trail junction. The route thus links the riverside with a variety of landscape features as it passes through the town.
The routes vary considerably in length: the Stezka sv. Ludmily is 132 kilometres long, while the “Od Okoře k Vltavě” route is about 45 kilometres. This route also passes through Úholičky and is suitable for walkers and cyclists. The first section of the tourist nature trail in Úholičky also starts in the village square, where visitors can pick up maps with questions about the individual stops.
Views and Cultural History
From the summit of Řivnáč, there are views of the Vltava towards Prague and Kralupy, as well as of the “Vlčí jáma” gorge. The hill is also associated with archaeological finds from the Stone Age and Bronze Age. The views and history are therefore both linked to this named place, but offer distinct reasons to include it in your trip plans.
Large swings and a slide have been installed at the Na Krakově natural amphitheatre, on the site of the former open-air theatre. The “Rozhlédni se, člověče” nature trail also leads to the Švestkovna rope playground. The route therefore includes both stretches of landscape and named stops that can be incorporated into a walking itinerary.
Úholičky Chateau is a protected cultural monument and has been protected since 1958. The chateau has a three-hectare English-style landscaped park. Rare trees and shrubs planted at the time have survived to this day. The chateau and park add a distinct historical and garden-culture focus to the trails and viewpoints.
Golf and Local Connections
Golf SNAIL is a public nine-hole golf course. One of the tees offers an impressive view into the Vltava Valley. The golf club also includes the Golf Snail Gallery; exhibition openings are held as part of every SPG Tour tournament. Above the chipping green is the Snail ZOO, which currently houses bees and several goats.
You can reach the golf club by taking train S4 from Masarykovo nádraží to Úholičky station, then following a forest path uphill to the club. For cyclists, the Přívoz Úholičky–Husinec–Řež ferry connects Úholičky with Husinec–Řež and links the cycling routes of the two municipalities. As operating arrangements may change seasonally, check the ferry timetable before travelling.
