Tišice lies in the Polabská nížina on the right bank of the Elbe. The river landscape is a prominent point of reference for planning your trip: a nature trail follows the riverbank, old floodplain forests invite you to enjoy long walks, and a lake is used for swimming in summer. If you are looking for a hotel in Tišice, you can decide based on your interests whether your trip should focus more on walks, seasonal swimming, or local history.

River Landscape and Trails

The Putování tišickou krajinou nature trail is almost seven kilometers long and runs along the Elbe. Thirteen information panels stand along the route, and a quiz awaits at the end. The named nature trail thus combines a specific route with information and a quiz as its final stop. Old floodplain forests along the Elbe also invite you to enjoy long walks. This makes it possible to combine different interests: a nature trail with panels and a quiz, or walks in the river landscape.

Another point of reference is the Písčina u Tišic protected area. It begins before the railway crossing on the road from Tišice to Kozly and extends for about 0.5 kilometers along the railway in the direction of Mlékojedy. The approximate length and stated direction help you locate this section of the landscape on a map. For comparison, the nature trail is almost seven kilometers long, while the protected area extends about 0.5 kilometers along the railway. These figures describe different things, however: a riverside route and the extent of a section of the landscape.

Swimming and Fishing

A lake lies on the site of a former sand quarry in Tišice and is used for swimming in summer. This seasonal feature may be a factor when choosing when to travel. Staré Labe, by contrast, is an oxbow lake of the Elbe and is used for fishing. The two bodies of water therefore offer different activities: summer swimming in the lake or fishing in the oxbow lake.

Cultural History in Tišice and Kozly

Archaeological finds in Tišice date back to around 5000 BC. In Kozly, the Church of All Saints was built in 1352 in the Early Gothic style; it is a state-protected monument. The finds provide a very early historical point of reference, while the church is a specifically dated building. Archaeological traces and religious architecture thus offer different ways to explore the history of the area.
