Nelahozeves is associated with Antonín Dvořák, the eminent Czech composer: his Baroque birthplace stands next to Nelahozeves Castle and is a designated national cultural monument. The Church of St. Andrew and paths along the Vltava also give your stay a variety of cultural and scenic highlights.

Dvořák, the castle and the church

Music and interpretation are at the heart of the birthplace. Offerings include special music education courses, workshops and concerts, as well as a meditation garden and programs to enrich the community. Individual programs may change. The Poesiomat in Nelahozeves also explores Dvořák’s life and work: the jukebox traces his life story and features excerpts from his work.

At Nelahozeves Castle, an installation in twelve contemporary-style salons presents the life of a noble family in Bohemia at the end of the 19th century. It is inspired by the era of Prince Ferdinand Zdeněk of Lobkowicz (1858–1938). The focus is thus on an era and family life in Bohemia, while the birthplace and the Poesiomat are devoted to Dvořák.

The Church of St. Andrew adds its own architectural highlight. It is originally Gothic; its oldest Gothic part is the presbytery. Inside are a Baroque altar and a Gothic tabernacle. Since early June 2026, regular guided tours with commentary on the church’s history and architecture have been held there. Check the dates before your visit, as the schedule may change.

Paths along the Vltava and leisure on the water

The Dvořákova stezka connects Kralupy nad Vltavou with Nelahozeves along the Vltava’s left bank. It runs parallel to the red hiking trail and the Prague–Dresden cycle route. This means there are three distinct route connections: between the two towns, the parallel hiking trail, and the cycle route between Prague and Dresden.

The landscape along the Dvořákova stezka also has distinctive features: lush vegetation borders the path, and tall trees line almost its entire length. A rock massif runs alongside the route throughout; at several points, you can walk right up to the rocks. The Nelahozeves Castle Trail serves a different purpose: it connects the Nelahozeves Castle grounds with the Dvořákova stezka.

Guests at Marina Vltava can use boat moorings, boat rentals and sightseeing cruises. Since operating arrangements may change, check the current options in advance. The marina adds leisure activities on the water to the area’s cultural attractions and trails.

Highlights for your stay

If you are interested in music and history, the main attractions are Dvořák’s birthplace, the Poesiomat, the castle installation and the church with its guided tours. For a trip focused more on walking and cycling, the Dvořákova stezka and the connection to the castle grounds offer different options. If you are looking for a hotel in Nelahozeves, you can use these interests to guide your plans; it is worth checking the dates for the guided church tours with commentary.
