Explore on foot and by bike

The Krásné Vyhlídky nature trail is 9.2 kilometres long, has 150 metres of elevation gain and is for pedestrians only. There are nine rest stops with benches along the route. The trail connects Mnichovice with Struhařov and Klokočná. Its length, elevation gain and rest stops give you concrete points of reference when planning a hike as part of your stay.

The Do Prahy na kole cycling route also starts in Mnichovice. It runs via Všestary, Světice and Říčany to Prague-Kolovraty and is 14.3 kilometres long. The route is used both for everyday cycling and recreation; there are rest stops and various places to visit along the way. This gives you two clearly distinct options: a nature trail reserved exclusively for pedestrians and a cycling route that is also used for everyday travel.

Architectural history in Mnichovice

Zittův Mlýn is one of the oldest buildings in Mnichovice. Historical sources indicate that the mill was already standing there in 1600; it was declared a cultural monument on 15 October 1996. It is considered a valuable surviving example of vernacular architecture and the milling trade. This combination of architectural style and craft history gives the building a different historical significance from the local church.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Mnichovice is a Baroque church. It was rebuilt after the fire of 1746 and consecrated on 8 September 1754. These dates mark a specific chapter in its architectural history: the fire was followed by reconstruction and, later, consecration. Together with Zittův Mlýn, the church offers two different perspectives on the town’s history, from the milling trade to sacred Baroque architecture.

Landscape and nature

The Mnichovická kotliny lies in undulating, hilly and forested terrain that extends to the Sázava; the Mnichovka flows south. The area around Rybník Koloděj is another nature spot: protected grey herons, grass frogs, water frogs and grass snakes can be found there. Remains of the dam are also visible at the former pond.

Seasonal attractions and regional products

Šibeniční vrch has a seasonal, family-friendly ski area. Its listed facilities include a snow-covered slope suitable for beginners, a ski school and rental facilities, as well as a gentle children’s slope with a lift and a snow carousel. Since ski operations and facilities vary by season, it’s a good idea to check current availability before your visit.

In Mnichovice-Myšlín, Myšlín Gardens is a family leisure farm with a garden bistro. It serves daily dishes made with locally sourced ingredients and herbal lemonades. Herbs grown there are made into regional products without the use of chemicals. If you’d like to include these offerings in your plans, check whether the bistro is available before your visit.
