Broumy offers several different reasons to visit: the history of the glassworks, the collections at Muzeum Broumy, local cultural traditions, and hiking opportunities. When planning your visit, it is important to note the different arrangements: you can visit the sites at U DVORA, museum tours are available by appointment, and the annual hiking day takes place on the second Saturday in October. The entire cadastral area of Broumy lies within the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area; the Týřov National Nature Reserve, however, has its own access restriction.

Glassworks and Historic Sites

The Broumy glassworks was established in 1599 by glassmaker Kryštof Schürer, under a letter of privilege issued by Emperor Rudolf II. Its main building has survived to this day as the former residence of the Broumy glassmaker. In the present-day locality of U DVORA, you can visit the sites of the former glassworks and manor farm; check the current access conditions before your visit.

Museum and Local Culture

Muzeum Broumy displays a collection of beetles and butterflies donated to the municipality by Miloš Kohout. Another room is devoted to agriculture and crafts, and there is also a small exhibition of old office equipment. Natural history and aspects of everyday working life are presented as distinct themes. The museum offers guided tours by prior arrangement.

The local amateur theatre group has performed under the name “MÁJ” since 1941 and is the second-oldest in the Beroun area. Another local tradition is Staročeské máje, which is still kept alive and independently organized by the young people of Broumy. If you are interested in a specific event, check its date separately.

Hiking with a Set Date and Route Options

The “Broumský špacír” hiking day takes place every year on the second Saturday in October. Depending on the year, participants can choose routes of 10, 15, or 20 km. The three distances range from 10 to 20 km, with 15 km in between. Participants receive a certificate of participation and a light meal; these event provisions may vary from year to year. Before travelling, check the exact date and the routes planned for that year.

Another hiking option is the Questingová trasa Broumy – Kublov – Velíz. It starts at the Broumy municipal office, where game sheets and a map are available. The two formats can therefore be distinguished by their different planning details: for the “Broumský špacír,” the date and route length are relevant, while the starting point and available materials are specified for the Questingová trasa.

Landscape and Getting There

The entire cadastral area of Broumy lies within the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. Part of the Týřov National Nature Reserve is also located in Broumy; the area is not accessible. Bear this restriction in mind when planning, and do not plan to enter without current information from the responsible authority. Regular bus services between Broumy and the surrounding area are operated by PROBO TRANS. Check the latest service details before travelling.
