Meghradzor combines nature experiences with distinctive cultural heritage sites. Above the village lies the 12th-century Tezharuyk Monastery; in the center stands the Church of St. Astvatsatsin. Marked trails, woodland walks and a waterfall route complement the cultural attractions, while colorful street art adds another visual accent. For winter sports, nearby Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort is another option. You can plan your trip around your main interest: local culture, trails through greenery or winter activities in the surrounding area.

Monastery and Cultural Heritage

Tezharuyk Monastery lies in the hills above Meghradzor, amid woodland with views over the river. It takes approximately ten minutes to walk there from Meghradzor. The monastery dates back to the 12th century, making it a historic destination in a hillside setting. If you plan to visit, check local access conditions in advance. The combination of historical significance and woodland scenery makes the monastery a destination in its own right for those interested in culture and nature.

The Church of St. Astvatsatsin stands in the center of Meghradzor; the village also has traditional stone khachkars. The khachkars add a traditional touch, while colorful street art complements the village in a different way. It adds another visual accent to Meghradzor’s natural and historic attractions and may change over time.

Trails, Forest and Waterfall

For hiking, you can choose from the marked Meghradzor and Khachats Trails, as well as woodland walks. The waterfall route also follows the Meghradzor River. These options offer different experiences: the two named trails are a selection of marked routes, while the riverside route includes a waterfall as a specific destination. When planning, you can first decide whether you are looking for a marked trail, a walk in the forest or a route to the waterfall.

Along the waterfall route, a cascade drops from a height of more than 20 meters into a pool; picnic areas are nearby. They add a place to take a break to the natural setting. Trail conditions can vary by season, so take this into account when planning.

The winter sports options differ in focus: Tsaghkadzor combines skiing and snowboarding with rentals, lifts and ski runs, while experience and your own equipment are specified for the trail in Artavaz. Before your trip, check the resort’s current facilities and slope configuration.
