When looking for hotels in Librazhd District, you can choose your destination based on whether you are especially interested in historic routes and monuments, or in highlands, lakes and caves. The following places offer concrete ideas for planning your trip, from the Via Egnatia and Kamara Bridge to hiking and nature destinations.

Via Egnatia and Kamara Bridge

The Via Egnatia runs along the upper Shkumbin through the Librazhd highlands, from Miraka to Qukës. Important archaeological and cultural monuments lie along the route. You can explore the ancient Via Egnatia on foot and visit preserved sections of the ancient road. This lets you include a historic route in your travel plans not just by name, but also through its surviving sections.

Kamara Bridge near Mirakë is located directly above the Shkumbin, before Librazhd. It was built in 1715 and is a designated cultural monument. A stone slab bearing a Turkish inscription is preserved in the Librazhd Museum. This site thus connects a dated structure and an inscription with local history.

Museum and cultural heritage

The Librazhd Museum is considered a first-category museum and a place of exceptional cultural value. Its exhibits include local economic life and domestic interiors, including a guest room and a bread house. The stone slab from Kamara Bridge is also preserved there.

Another point of interest is the Koshorisht Hermitage Cave, a first-category cultural monument. Its biblical murals depict Christ, the Virgin Mary and other scenes. Near Pishkash, Skanderbeg’s Table offers views of the Domosdova Plain, Qafë Thana and the Via Egnatia. These are distinct historical points of interest: a museum offering insights into local economic life, a cave with murals, and a viewpoint overlooking named natural and cultural destinations.

National park, lakes and karst landscape

On the Librazhd side, Shebenik-Jabllanica National Park stretches for more than 30 kilometres from Steblevë to Rrajca and covers 33,929 hectares. Activities available there include nature walks, alpine hikes, exploring glacial lakes, panoramic photography, picnics and camping. Lake Shebenik is a glacial lake at an elevation of over 1,200 metres within the national park.

The town of Librazhd lies along the Shkumbin Valley. Its hilly and mountainous terrain, as well as its water resources, make it suitable for nature tourism and mountain exploration. The Studna karst field offers a different landscape: it lies at an elevation of about 1,100 metres, covers 5.6 square kilometres and is surrounded by mountains and forest. Studna is considered of tourist value.

Caves are also among the region’s natural attractions. The Ice Cave in Librazhd lies in the Letmi Plain within the national park and contains numerous stalactites and stalagmites. Bee Rock Cave has scientific, educational and tourist value. These places are quite distinct: Studna is a karst field, while the Ice Cave is characterised by its stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Hiking destinations and getting around

Lake Floqi offers opportunities for mountain hiking, observing flora and fauna, and relaxing in nature. At Lake Tragan, possible activities include mountain hiking, birdwatching and relaxing. If you are planning a nature outing, these different highlights can help you choose: at Lake Floqi, the focus is on observing plants and animals, while birdwatching is specifically included at Lake Tragan.

The access routes to Lake Shebenik pass through Librazhd–Rajcë or Qarrishtë, followed by a walk. You can reach Bee Rock Cave by car from Librazhd to Dardhë, then continue on foot through Polis Rock. Local conditions may vary; check conditions before your visit. Hasan’s Cave is accessible via rural roads in the Librazhd area. These roads may also vary in condition, so checking road conditions before driving is recommended.
