Klintholm Havn is an active fishing harbour and a starting point for beach days, excursions on foot or by bicycle, and activities on the water. When choosing a stay in Klintholm Havn, it is helpful to distinguish between the different aspects of the town: fishing and the harbour, bathing beaches, destinations on Møn, and activities on the water. This way, you can shape your stay around the things that genuinely interest you.

Harbour, Fishing and Beach

As an active fishing harbour, Klintholm Havn receives large landings of herring and cod at certain times of the year. Salmon fishing is possible from here year-round. The two details differ in their time frame: the landings take place at certain times, while salmon fishing is possible year-round.

Klintholm Havn lies between two of Møn’s best bathing beaches. At the beach on the west side, you have to go a long way into the water before it gets deep; it is particularly suitable for families with children. Conditions at the beach can vary. For a break, there are cafés overlooking the harbour, serving cold drinks. As individual establishments may change, it is a good idea to check what is currently available before visiting.

Water Sports and Tours

At Møn Surf, you can learn kitesurfing, surfing, windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding. Check before travelling whether the courses you want are available. Møn Surf Café in Klintholm Havn rents out SUP boards and surfboards; rental availability may vary. You can also get information there about the courses on offer and surf spots on the island.

Boat tours depart from Klintholm Havn and travel along the chalk cliffs of Møns Klint. Departures are seasonal or depend on the operator, so check the dates before travelling. If you would rather paddle yourself, there is a kayak route from Klintholm Havn to Møns Klint. It is about 18–22 km long and requires paddling experience. Kayaks can be launched at the bridge outside the smokehouse or at the two beaches on either side of the harbour. Weather and water levels can affect the starting conditions.

History of the Harbour

In 1911, Klintholm Havn was expanded with a fishing harbour and a rescue station. Klintholm Havn is also home to a memorial stone commemorating concentration camp prisoners from the German Stutthof concentration camp near Gdańsk in Poland who were rescued there. These memorial sites add a historical perspective to the present-day fishing harbour.
