Those choosing Kollerup as a travel destination can shape their stay around several very different themes: Kollerup Plantation, the beach and Planetstien, or Kollerup Church. The plantation combines a long history with heathland and marked trails; the beach is characterized by sand, scattered stones and a designated naturist section. Planetstien adds a scale model of the solar system to these nature-themed attractions.

Kollerup Plantation: Heathland and Marked Trails

Kollerup Plantation was established between 1897 and 1909. Its northern part is heathland and is particularly rich in juniper bushes. The northernmost heathland area is part of Natura 2000 site No. 13, “Svinkløv Klitplantage og Grønne Strand.” The link to the Natura 2000 site applies to the northernmost heathland area; the description of juniper bushes applies to the northern part of the plantation.

There are three marked hiking trails in the plantation. The Kollerup Plantation MTB trail is a marked mountain biking route; the North Sea Cycle Route, national cycle route No. 1, also passes through the plantation. Which route you choose depends on your preferred way of getting around: hiking, mountain biking or the national cycle route. Check the current route and trail markings before setting out. The Kollerup riding trail starts at the car park on Kollerup Strandvej. There are five car parks in the plantation; this information can help you plan different activities.

At Kollerup Beach: Coast and Planetstien

Kollerup Beach is car-free, broad and sandy, with scattered stones. The Planetstien Fjerritslev–Kollerup Beach presents the solar system as a model; distances and sizes are reduced by a factor of one billion. At Kollerup Beach, the outermost planet, Pluto, is located along this trail, 5.9 km from Fjerritslev. A section between Kollerup Beach and neighbouring Grønnestrand is designated as a naturist beach; check the local signs when you arrive.

Plan for History and Accommodation

Kollerup Church was built in the 12th century. Its construction date provides a specific historical connection alongside the plantation’s establishment between 1897 and 1909.
