Discover Hadsten
Accommodation in Hadsten
Hadsten offers several different points of interest for a stay: rail travel, cycling, culture and the landscape along the Lilleåen. The town’s features show what Hadsten has to offer.
Travel to Hadsten by train
Hadsten station is on the railway line between Aarhus and Randers stations; InterCity trains stop at the station. If you are arriving by train, check the timetable before setting off. This will help you coordinate your arrival with your planned stay.
Hadsten station dates from 1862. This gives the town’s connection with rail travel a historical dimension, while the route and InterCity service are relevant to planning a trip today. The station is therefore more than a century older than the “Samarbejde” sculpture.
Cycling: event and trail
The Hadsten Gade Grand Prix traditionally takes place every year immediately after the summer holidays; the exact date varies from year to year. The race has been held since 1993. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the dates for the relevant year.
Hadsten also has an MTB trail that is just under four kilometres long. It combines technical features with riding through woodland and across open, hilly terrain. While the Grand Prix is primarily defined by its event date, the MTB trail’s length and terrain describe the specific cycling option.
Culture at the cultural centre and around town
The Sløjfen cultural centre in Hadsten houses the town library, Favskov Music School, meeting rooms, a hall and music rooms. Its year-round programme includes concerts, exhibitions and local events. The centre’s facilities are complemented by a cultural programme spanning different kinds of events. If you are travelling to attend a particular concert or exhibition, check the relevant date.
The “Samarbejde” sculpture was created in 1972. It represents cooperation through ten large interlocking rings. The individual rings remain recognisable as shapes while also forming a unified structure—making the theme visible in the sculpture’s design.
An update from March 2026 also mentions the HJEMSTAVN podwalk: it leads through Hadsten and lets young and older people talk about their town. Alongside the sculpture, it offers a narrated perspective on the town.
The Lilleåen and Lilleåparken
The Lilleåen winds through Hadsten and provides a setting for walks, picnics and fishing. These options offer different ways to spend time by the river, from being active to taking a break; local rules for fishing may vary. Lilleåparken is Hadsten’s green oasis. The river and park add a natural dimension to the town’s cultural and sporting attractions.
