Getting There and Finding Your Way

Hakkemosen offers year-round opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Facilities include a shelter, a fire pit, outdoor dining and hammocks. Hakkemosen is also home to Teddy Venlig, a giant troll sculpture made from recycled materials by artist Thomas Dambo.

Selsmosen is a water park in the centre of Taastrup. Its facilities include a raft, a water maze, a climbing bridge, stepping stones and a beach volleyball court. The lake is home to a diverse range of birds and wildlife. The two waterside spots therefore have different focuses: Hakkemosen combines time outdoors with opportunities to prepare food, while Selsmosen offers a range of play features by the water.

Trails and Landscape

The marked Høje-Taastrup Marathon Ring is 42 kilometres long and intended for walking, running and cycling. It includes shorter sections of 30, 21, 10 and 7 kilometres. This lets you factor the route length into your plans without having to schedule the entire route as one continuous distance.

The Kløverstier comprise four marked trails of varying lengths that start at Taastrup Library. The red Kløversti leads to St. Vejleådal. The black trail takes you through Taastrup’s history: from the construction of Høje Taastrup Church in the early Middle Ages, through the 19th-century brick industry, to modern urban development around Selsmosen. The routes thus offer a range of lengths and themes.

Hedeland Nature Park covers more than 1,000 hectares of hills, lakes and green spaces and was created from a former gravel-mining landscape. At its centre are a ski slope and a viewpoint; the path to the summit climbs 50 metres. Hedelands Veteranbane offers a five-kilometre train ride through the former gravel-mining area. Visitors can get off at any of eight stops. Hedeland Amphitheatre is an open-air venue created from a gravel pit, with seating for more than 4,000 spectators.

Culture, Museums and Events

Høje Taastrup Church is a large village church built in the early 12th century. Its tower is 30 metres high. Vikingebro is a road and bridge route through the landscape of Store Vejleådalen between Høje-Taastrup and Albertslund. The 700-metre structure was completed in 2019.

Kroppedal Museum is the local museum for the municipalities of Albertslund and Høje-Taastrup. It offers exhibitions, guided town tours, lectures and other events on archaeology, astronomy and recent history for children, young people and adults. During the winter season, from October through March, the museum hosts evenings featuring popular-science lectures and opportunities for observation. The museum garden also includes a 140-metre natural obstacle course.

The archive at Blaakildegaard is located at Skolevej 54 in Taastrup. It occupies all four wings of the farmstead, with storage rooms, exhibition spaces, a reading room and administrative offices. Taastrup Theatre and Music House is a professional theatre and venue for concerts, theatre performances and various shows; the specific programme changes.

Opera Hedeland stages operas in an amphitheatre in the Hedeland landscape, at Tranemosevej 8 in Hedehusene. A free shuttle bus departs from the west side of Høje Taastrup Station, by the taxis. Check shuttle availability and performance dates before travelling, as timetables and programmes change.

Wider Regional Area

In the wider region around Høje-Taastrup, St. Vejleådal is an 11.3-kilometre green corridor between Høje-Taastrup Municipality and Albertslund Municipality. The landscape includes lakes, streams, meadows, scrub, woodland, wetlands, marshland, coastal meadows and individual artificial hills. Vestskoven is also part of this wider area: the forest covers more than 1,400 hectares and stretches across the municipalities of Albertslund, Høje-Taastrup, Glostrup and Ballerup.

The five-kilometre Kringelstien trail runs through woodland, along marshes and past hills, and is suitable for wheelchair users.
