Skåstrup: Beach, Hiking Trails and Village History
Accommodation in Skåstrup
Skåstrup combines a wide beach with marked hiking trails and the old village. When planning your trip, it’s worth considering the different highlights: time by the water, marked trails, a coastal route through several places, and the well-preserved village layout.
Beach and Coastal Views
Skåstrup Beach is wide and ideal for swimming, walking and a family picnic. There is also a long bathing jetty at the beach. Skåstrup Beach is one of Nordfyn’s seven Blue Flag-awarded beaches. From the beach, you can enjoy views of Jutland, Juelsminde, Samsø and Endelave, as well as the wooded, uninhabited island of Æbelø.
Hiking Trails Between the Village and the Coast
The hiking trails differ in specific ways in terms of length, markings and route. The “Den Røde Kløversti ved Skåstrup” route is 7.2 kilometres long, starts and ends in Skåstrup, and is marked throughout with red clover signs. The “Den Sorte Kløversti” route is 10.2 kilometres long, making it three kilometres longer. It passes through the old villages of Skåstrup, Ørbæk, Ore and Mejlskov; one section follows the old railway track between Bogense and Brenderup. The “Den Blå Kløversti ved Skåstrup” route also starts and ends in Skåstrup. If you’re choosing between the red and black routes, the differences are clear: the red route combines a shorter distance with markings throughout, while the black route passes through four old villages and follows part of the former railway line.
The Nordfyns Coastal Trail is a hiking route along beaches, dykes and coastal paths. It runs from Skåstrup through Bogense and Flyvesandet to Enebærodde. The route offers views of coastal meadows and access to local Kløversti trails. Unlike the Kløversti routes that start and end in Skåstrup, the Coastal Trail passes through several named places and follows the coast. This lets you choose between a walk that starts and ends in the village and a coastal route through several places.
Village Character and Disc Golf
The old village of Skåstrup has preserved its old village pond, old houses and original street network. This gives the village a different focus alongside the coast and hiking trails: the preserved layout of the old settlement.
OSG Lokalpark in Skåstrup has a six-hole disc golf course, and a box of discs can be borrowed free of charge. As facilities may change, check before your visit whether borrowing discs is still available.
