Prvic Luka is a village and small harbour on the southeast coast of the island of Prvić. The swimming area provides specific information about the seabed and access; churches, an exhibition and a recurring event offer other perspectives on the village. The building history and the stated travel conditions can also be clearly distinguished from one another.

Swimming Area and Shipping in the Archipelago

The swimming area in Prvic Luka is partly developed and mostly concrete, with the remaining section rocky. Its shoreline is straight. The swimming area is 400 metres long and 7 metres wide. Shoreline works or maintenance may change the surface and dimensions. If these details are important for your visit, check them on site.

Access is via a footpath, and there is no parking. Allow time for the walk and check the local access and parking situation before you arrive, as both may change.

The route on the Šibenik–Zlarin–Prvić–Vodice line is considered a scenic experience through the Šibenik archipelago. The full journey is listed as taking 1 hour and 15 minutes. This duration refers to the entire route; for a specific trip, check the timetable for your travel date.

Churches and Local History

Glagolitic brothers of the Third Order settled here in 1461; Prvic Luka developed around the Monastery of Saint Mary. Construction of the Church of Saint Mary, also known as Our Lady of Mercy, and the monastery began after their settlement. Work was still under way in 1479. For this church, the year therefore marks a phase of construction that was still ongoing.

By contrast, 1479 is the year of construction of the Church of the Nativity of Christ: the Ambrozović family from Šibenik built it that year. The registry entry dated 6 May 2025 lists the church as protected cultural property under reference number Z-3326. It is no longer in use today. If you are considering a visit, check access arrangements on site.

Exhibition, Tradition and Kayaks

The exhibition at the Faust Vrančić Memorial Centre includes Homo Volans, the “flying man”, as well as a dictionary in five European languages. These include the first printed Croatian and Hungarian dictionaries. The exhibition therefore brings together a theme related to flight and the history of language, offering a different cultural perspective from the churches’ building history.

Fešta u Prvić Luci is listed in the calendars for 2024, 2025 and 2026 as a recurring event associated with folk traditions. The specific dates and programmes depend on the year. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check the information for your travel date.

The Sea Kayak Center Prvić Luka is located at Hotel Maestral and offers high-quality kayaks and equipment. Confirm the current operating arrangements before your trip.
