Tkon is a fishing village and port on the island of Pašman. You can explore the character of the town through several distinct themes: churches and traditional stone houses, a coastline shaped by sand deposits, and trails leading to a range of destinations. When planning your stay, you can weigh up culture, coastal scenery and outdoor activity.

Getting there and town profile

Jadrolinija’s ferry line 432 connects the mainland with Tkon on the island of Pašman. The crossing from Biograd takes about 20 minutes. Timetables and fares may change, so check the latest information before departure. This lets you plan the ferry crossing as part of your journey without mistaking the approximate duration for a fixed timetable.

Churches, houses and local history

The parish church of Sv. Toma apostola is listed in the Croatian Register of Cultural Goods. On Kalvarija hill above Tkon stands the 18th-century church of Gospe od sedam žalosti. A stone staircase with 101 steps and Stations of the Cross leads up to the summit. In the centre of Tkon is the church of Sv. Antuna opata, built in 1672. The stone houses in Palestra and Rudića dvori are typical examples of traditional Dalmatian architecture.

The Maritime Heritage Interpretation Centre Tkon displays exhibits relating to the town’s past. These include traditional skills and tools used in boatbuilding, fishing and agriculture. The Centre can be reached by car, bicycle and on foot. Access is seasonal; check current visitor information before your trip.

Coast, bay and views

Outside the centre, almost the entire coastline consists of natural beaches. They were formed by continuous sand deposition and are considered a geomorphological phenomenon in Croatia. Bartovica is the only official dog beach in the Municipality of Tkon. As beach rules may change, check local regulations before your visit. Zaklopica Bay offers sailboats and yachts natural shelter from all winds.

From the StraĹľa viewpoint, the view extends over the Kornati archipelago, Vransko jezero, Ravni Kotari and the Velebit mountain range. This brings a variety of landscapes together in one panorama: islands, a lake, a plain and mountains.

Trails with different destinations

For a route from the ferry port, a marked tourist trail runs 4 km to Ugrinića Dvori. It follows the sea for most of the way and can also be reached by bicycle. Two more routes go from Tkon to Pustograd and back: the Adventure Trail is 9.5 km long, while the Adventurous Byzantine Trail is 9.9 km and passes through Zaklopica Bay and Pustograd. The slightly different distances therefore reflect different routes. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

Cultural heritage nearby

Near Tkon, 2 km northwest of the town, the Benedictine monastery of Sv. Kuzme i Damjana stands on 95-metre-high Ćokovac. It is a Category Zero cultural monument. This excursion adds another point of interest for culture-minded travellers, complementing Tkon’s churches and traditional architecture; check current visitor information before going.
